Funeral service for William Burym, 56, of Danbury, who died September
28 in the Rural Municipality of Clayton, was held October 5 at Leson's Funeral
Home with Rev. Peter Wasylenko officiating. Burial was in Canora Cemetery with
Leson's Funeral Home in care of arrangements. Born
on October 14, 1,944, in Canora Hospital to John and Tena (Davidvik) Burym,
he attended South Porcupine School. He took an active role in the farm work
until 1959. He continued to farm, but also worked for Kozmeniuk-Sunduk
Sawmill. In the winter of 1961-62, he worked in Winnipeg. He married Sylvia
Kowch on October 12, 1962, and they farmed on the family homestead northwest
of Danbury. He worked as a heavy equipment operator for the rural municipally
and for contractors in the area. He was known as a hunter and trapper and for
his mechanical work. Predeceased by his parents, John and Tena, and a brother in infancy, he is survived by his wife, Sylvia, a son, Andy (Melody) of Danbury, a daughter, Calinda (Craig) Nielsen of Esterhazy; his step-mother, Olga Burym; two brothers, Stanley (Judy) of Winnipeg and Eugene of Danbury, a stepbrother, Johnny (Elenor) Lwiwski of Winnipeg, and four grandchildren. Funeral service for Annie Drozduik, 88, of Canora, who died September
29 at Canora Hospital, was held October 4 at the Holy Trinity Ukrainian
Orthodox Church with Rev. Peter Wasylenko officiating. Burial was in the
Canora Cemetery with Leson's Funeral Home in Care of arrangements. Born
on August 31, 1913, in the Buchanan district to Metro and Vsalka (Darda) Sass,
she attended Dobronoutz school. On November 15, 1936, she married William
Drozduik in the Orthodox church in Buchanan. They lived in the Wishart, area
until 1966 when they moved to Canora. She was active in the Ukrainian Orthodox
churches in Wishart and Canora. Predeceased
by her parents Metro and Vsalka, her husband William, a son Orest, a brother
John and two sister, Dora Lenko and Mary Hanuik, she is survived by a son,
John (Carol) of Ogema; two daughters, Alice Lang of Raymore and Grace Taylor
of Saskatoon; 13 grandchildren, and 11 great-grandchildren. Canora Courier, October 10, 2001 LISCHYNSKI:
Funeral service for Nicholas D. Lischynski, 89, of Kamsack, who died
October 3 in Kamsack, was held October 7 from the chapel of Andrychuk Funeral
Home with Rev. Peter Wasylenko officiating. Burial was in Riverview Cemetery
with E. Andrychuk Funeral Home in care of arrangements. Born
December 15, 1911 in Gorlitz to Metro and Caroline (Fiowski) Lischynski, he
was educated at a Ukrainian country school before attending Normal School in
Moose Jaw. He taught in Canora, Stenen, Hyas and Kamsack schools from 1937 to
1972. He was a member of the Saskatchewan Teachers' Federation and the Legion.
In January, 1941, he married Anne Procyshen in the Ukrainian Greek Orthodox
Church in Gorlitz. Predeceased by a grandson and his parents, he is survived by his wife; one son, Daniel (Donna) of Regina; one daughter, Sonia (Russell) Warriner of Yorkton; a brother, Metro (Mary) of Canora; five grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren. Funeral service for Henry George Musqua, 80, of Mikado and formerly of
Lebret and Kamsack, who died October 3 in the Kamsack Hospital, was held
October 6 from the St. Philips Roman Catholic Church with Elder John Bird
officiating. Burial was in the parish cemetery with E. Andrychuk Funeral Home
in care of arrangements. Born
December 12, 1920 at Keeseekoose to John and Veronique Musqua, he was educated
at the St. Philips residential school. He worked as a farmer, in sawmills in
winter, as a night watchman and boys' supervisor at St. Philips school, at the
Co-operative creamery in Regina, and at the residential school in Lebret until
his retirement. On April 25, 1940, he married Margaret Ann Quewezance at St.
Philips. Predeceased by his wife in 1995, a daughter, Margaret (Muggin) Mclaughlin in 1999, three sons, Joseph Patrick in 1980 and David and Kenneth in infancy, his parents, four brothers, Vincent, Fred, Ambrose and Aldolphous, and four sisters, Elizabeth Cappo, Mary Bunny, Philomine Simpson and Sarah Quewezance, he is survived by two sons, Spencer and Sammy Musqua, both of Keeseekoose; six daughters, Virginia Musqua of Mikado, Georgina (John) Lincoln of Wawota, Joyce Meyerhoffer of Lebret, Geraldine Leblanc of Nova Scotia, Antonia (Ed) McCune of Standard, Alta., and Mary Latulite of Moose Jaw; three sisters, Chrintine Severight of Keeseekoose and Veronica (Rod) Cote and Margaret Cote, both of Cote First Nation; 37 grandchildren, and 73 great-grandchildren. Funeral service for Orest F. Ostafie, 71, of Canora, who died October 2
at Canora Hospital, was held October
5 at St. Joseph's Roman Catholic
Church with Rev. Hector Seville officiating. Burial was in the Sliding Hills
Christian Cemetery (Mazeppa district) with Tuba's Funeral Chapel in care of
arrangements. He attended Mazeppa School and graduated from St.. Joseph's High School in York-ton. From the Wascana Institute, he received certificates in farm management and in soils and crop management. He returned to farm with his parents and expanded when he purchased his own land. Predeceased by parents, Frank in 1974 and Rose in 1983, two brothers, Julian and Victor, and two sisters, Caroline and Albina, he is survived by his wife, Violet; a son Kelly (Janet) of Mikado; two daughters, Colleen (James) of Saskatoon and Shelly (Breckan Gorelitza) of Regina; four brothers, Alex (Mabel) of Yorkton, Marcel (Mary) of Saskatoon, Emil (Vicky) of Canora and Nestor of Mikado; four sisters, Stephania Shalkowsky of Donwell, Stella Uhryn of the Mazeppa district, Emily (Victor) Kyba of the Mazeppa district and Olga (Peter) Antoniuk of Edmonton, and five grandchildren. |
