CAMPBELL:  May Campbell of Winnipeg, MB passed away in the care of Grace General Hospital on August 7, 2001. Marion Katherine (May) was born on May 1, 1911 in the district of Tiny, Sk to John and Helen (Blain) Campbell. May received her education in Saskatchewan and lived on the family farm near Canora with parents until the death of her father. May and her mother moved to Winnipeg where she worked for an insurance company then as an admitting clerk at Grace Genera. Hospital. May retired from Grace General Hospital in 1975. May was predeceased by her parents, a sister-in-law and two brothers David Edward MacGregor (Ted) and wife (Rite) Campbell, John Western (Jack) Campbell and niece Beverly Florence Campbell. May is survived by: sister-in-law Florence Campbell of Edmonton, Ab; four nieces, Delores (Edwin) Kuemper of Terrace, BC, Eileen (Alfred) Wieme of Milestone, SK; and four nephews, Donald (Joan) Campbell of Coquitlam, BC, Lorne Campbell of Calgary, Allan (Sharon) Campbell of High River, AB, Robert (Bob) (Sharlene) Campbell of Regina. May also leaves behind several great and great-great nieces and nephews, other distant family members and friends. It was May's wish to be cremated and laid to rest with her parents and brother Ted at Canora Cemetery. A private family memorial ceremony will be held at a date to be determined. In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully requests that donations be made in May's name to Grace General Hospital in Winnipeg. The family extends special thanks to Jim Hagemeister, Jan McLellan, and staff at West Park Manor Personal Care Home, Deer Lodge Centre, and Grace General Hospital in Winnipeg for taking care of our "independent and loving aunt."

TROFIMENKOFF:  Funeral service for Judy Trofimenkoff, 62, of Canora and formerly of Pelly, who died August 3, was held August 7 in the chapel of Andrychuk Funeral Home in Kamsack with Dr. Fred Strukoff officiating. Burial was in the Veregin Community Cemetery with E. Andrychuk Funeral Home in care of arrangements. Born May 13, 1939 to Fred F. and Mabel (nee Tarasoff) Strellaeff in the Fort Petty district, she attended Fort Petty School and the Petty High School. After her graduation in 1957, she took nurse's training at the Yorkton General Hospital then graduated as a registered nurse in 1960. On May 5, 1961, she married John Trofimenkoff and the couple settled in Yorkton. In 1973, the couple moved to Melfort and the next year, to Balcarres where she resumed her nursing career on a part-time basis. In 1978, the couple moved to Canora where she worked for 17 years in the Canora Union Hospital. She retired in November, 1995. Predeceased by her parents, he is survived by two sons, Robert and James (Karen), both of Canora; three sisters, Velma (John) Rezansoff of Pelly, Nancy Fissel of Regina and Pauline (Monty) Gorchinski of Saskatoon, and one grandchild.

KOWALCHUK:  Funeral service for Neil Kowalchuk, 90, of Norquay, who died August 7 at Kamsack Union Hospital, was held August 10 at Norquay Covenant Church with Pastor Dave Nelson officiating. Burial was in Greenwood Cemetery (Pelly) with Leson's Funeral Home in care of arrangements.

Born on March 25, 1911, in the Danbury district to Mikyla and Mary (Lucas) Kowalchuk, he attended school in Danbury. He grew up in the Danbury district and it was there where he farmed until 1975 when he retired to Norquay. He married Rose Radwanski on October 29, 1944.

Predeceased by his parents Mikyla and Mary, three brothers, Mike, Nick and John, and three sisters, Nellie, Annie and Doris, he is survived by his wife, Rose; a son, Gary (Lisa) of Melfort; two daughters, Eleanor Chittick of Calgary and Shirley (Bob) Blakey of Hafford, and three grandchildren.

KEYOWSKI:  Funeral service for Marie Keyowski, 89, of Yorkton and formerly of Canora, who died August 1 in the Yorkton Regional Health Centre, was held August 3 from St. Gerard's Roman Catholic Church with Rev. Basil Chomos officiating. Burial was in Yorkton Memorial Gardens with Christie-Hill Funeral Chapel and Crematorium in care of arrangements.

Born June 20, 1912 in Canora to Casmir and Frances (nee Stachiw) Bielecki, she attended school in Canora. On November 18, 1933, she married Peter Keyowski and the couple worked on farms in the Jedburgh district before buying their own land in 1936. They farmed until 1970 when they moved to Springside. In 1997, she moved to Anderson Lodge in Yorkton.

Predeceased by her parents, her husband; four brothers, Carl, Steve, Joe and John, six sisters, Katherine, Julia, Victoria, Anne, Nellie and Maggie, and two great-grandchildren, she is survived by two sons, Norman (Ethel) Keyowski of Jedburgh and Lawrence (Janice) Keyowski of Yorkton; two daughters, Emelie (Len) Forster of Esterhazy and Deborah Keyowski of Springside; 10 grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren.

TREASURE:  Funeral service for Owen Treasure, 93, of Canora, and formerly of Norquay, who died August 4 at the Canora Gateway Lodge, was held August 9 at Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Norquay with Pastor Kim Sherwin officiating. Burial was in Greenwood Cemetery with Tuba's Funeral Chapel in care of arrangements.

Born on January 5, 1908, in Winnipeg to Ernest and Ethel (Travis) Treasure, he spent his early years on a dairy farm in the Winnipeg area. In 1917, his family moved to the Norquay area to farm and he farmed most of his life. He also ran a threshing outfit and ran a sawmill for many years. In 1934, he married Helga Strand.

Predeceased by his parents Ernest and Ethel, his wife Helga, an infant grandson, one brother and two sisters, he is survived by a son, Don (Mary) of Edmonton; a daughter, Ethel (Ames) Nystrom of Garden Hill, Ont.; five grandchil­dren and 10 great-grandchildren.

ENGEL:  Funeral service for Emillie Engel, 89, of Yorkton and formerly of Stornoway and Rhein, who died July 16 in the Yorkton and District Nursing Home, was held July 20 from Zion Lutheran Church in Yorkton with Pastor Michael Keith and Vicar Rob Grout officiating. Burial was in Yorkton Memorial Gardens with Bailey's Funeral Home of Yorkton in care of arrangements.

Born June 23, 1912 in Hussenbach, Russia, to George and Anna (nee Suppes) Melhing, she immigrated to Canada with her family, arriving in Stornoway in May, 1923. She attended school in Stornoway and Rhein before going to work as a nanny and housekeeper. She married Edwin Engel on July 28, 1940 and the couple farmed for 32 years, retiring to Yorkton in 1972. In April, 2000, she moved to the Yorkton and District Nursing Home.

Predeceased by her mother in 1922; her father in 1954; three sisters, Dorthea and Maria in 1922 and Elizabeth in 2000; two brothers, Victor in 1987 and Jacob in 1996; a step­mother, Katherine; four stepbrothers, Henry, John, Jack and Alex Schaeffer, and two stepsisters, Molly Schaeffer and Martha Leis, she is survived by her husband; four daughters, Glenna (Norm) Vance of Yorkton, Elaine (Ken) Els of Yorkton, Sharon (Dave) Hart of Nanaimo, B.C. and Brenda (Dale) Loeppky of Saskatoon; two stepsisters, Rosie Pfeifer of Yorkton and Lydia Riffel of Carduff; one stepbrother, Rev. Dave (Katie) Schaeffer of Medicine Hat, Alta.; eight grand­children, and three great-grandchildren.

BAERR:  Funeral service for Katherine (Kay) Baerr, 76, of Yorkton and formerly of Gorlitz, who died at home July 22, was held July 26 from Christie-Hill Funeral Chapel with Pastor Fred Schneider officiating. Burial was in the Garden of St. Matthew with Christie-Hill Funeral Chapel and Crematorium of Yorkton in care of arrangements.

Born December 30, 1923 in Gorlitz to George and Kate (nee Wasylyshen) Melnychuk, she received her education at Annak School. On September 8, 1946, she married Albert Baerr and the couple farmed near Gorlitz until 1972 when they moved to Vernon, B.C., for a couple of years before moving to Yorkton.

Predeceased by her parents and a brother, Johnny Melny­chuk, she is survived by her husband; two daughters, Lorraine Hersak of Ottawa and Shirley (Bob) Ross of Yorkton; one son, Bill (Judy) Baerr of Yorkton; a brother, Bill (Phyllis) Melnychuk of Winnipeg a sister, Iris (Don) Flynn of Winnipeg six grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren.

DAUM:  A grave side service for Gladys Louise Daum, 68, of Yorkton and formerly of Mikado, who died July 21 in the Yorkton and District Nursing Home, was held July 28 from Riverview Cemetery in Kamsack with Pastor Mark Maunula officiating and with Christie-Hill Funeral Chapel and Crematorium of Yorkton in care of arrangements.

Born June 30, 1933 in Mikado to Gottlieb and Mary (nee Hnoway) Joss, she married Michael Chutsoff on October 24, 1958 and the couple made their home north of Veregin. After her husband's death, she married Phillip Daum in October, 1980 and the couple moved to Churchbridge.

Predeceased by her father and both husbands, she is survived by her mother; two daughters, Audrey Fullawka and Luanne (Erroll) Ittermann; a sister, Alice (Bill) Popoff; four grandchildren, and one great-grandchild.

GLUTE:  Funeral service for Michael Glute, 82, of Yorkton and formerly of the Veregin district, who died July 31, was held August 3 from St. Mary's Ukrainian Catholic Church in Yorkton with Rev. Bryan Bayda officiating. Burial was in Yorkton City Cemetery with Bailey's Funeral Home in care of arrangements.

Born November 11, 1918, near Veregin to Onufry and Jawdocha (nee Shordee) Glute, he attended Rona and Wallace schools. He served with the 33rd Light Anti-aircraft Battery with the Canadian army from 1942 to 1946. On October 29, 1950, he married Donna Lackmanec and the couple farmed in the Dneiper area until 1960 when they moved to Yorkton. He worked for Rohatensky construction, Bill the Builder and Morris Rodweeder, retiring in 1983. He was a member of St. Mary's Ukrainian Catholic Church and a life­time member of the Father Delaere Council of the Knights of Columbus.

Predeceased by his parents, four sisters, Anne, Lena, Catherine and Maria, and a brother, Harry, he is survived by his wife; two sisters, Sister Jeanine Glute of Toronto and Theresa (John) Ostler of Pickering, Ont.; a sister, Mabel (Alex) Ostafie of Yorkton; two brothers, Metro (Ann) Glute of Yorkton and Basil Glute of Lemberg, and three step-grand­children.

LOZINSKI: Funeral service for Mary Lozinski, 78, of Lampman, and formerly of the Tiny district, who died July 16 at the Lampman Community Health Centre, was held July 19 in SS. Peter and Paul Ukrainian Catholic Church with Rev. Joakim Rac officiating. Burial was in the Canora. Cemetery with Boire Funeral Home and Leson’s Funeral Home in care of arrangements.

Born on December 8, 1922, in Swan Plain to Alex and Frances Nahachewski, she attended school in the Swan Plain area. She married Mike Belous in 1942 and moved to Toronto for a short period. They returned to farm in the Bredenbury district until he died in 1958. In 1960, she married Peter Lozinski and they farmed in the Tiny area.  In 1973, she moved to Estevan and she worked as an activity coordinator at the Creighton Lodge.

Predeceased by her parents, Alex and Frances, her first husband Michael Belous, her second husband, Peter Lozinski,, a son Stanley Lozinski, a brother Mike Nahachewski, a sister Minnie Yurkowski and a grandson Gregory Skwarchuk, she is survived by a son, Dale (Madeline Hill) Lozinski of Estevan; six daughters, Kathy (Norman) Litzenburger of Esterhazy, Helen (Ernest) Yanish of Estevan, Sonia (Dave) Sawatsky of Winnipeg, Eleanor (Ron) Sliva of Buchanan, Frances (Ivan) Iverson of Calgary and Joanne (Keith) Perkins of Calgary; six step-sons, Frank (Sharon) Lozinski of Regina, John (Donna) Lozinski of Region, Bernard (Donna) Lozinski of Drumheller, Jim (Shirley) Lozinski of Regina, Walter (Sharon) Lozinski of Calgary and Albert (Sue) Lozinski of Calgary; three step daughters, Annie (Peter) Ostafichuk of Canora, Frances (Jim) Tulik of Saskatoon and Jeanette Kohlruss (Phil Koran) of Calgary, a brother, Lawrence (Holly) Nahachewski of Brandon three sisters, Katie (Mike) Babiuk of Swan River, Pearl (Paul) Grywachewski of Norquay and Lillian (Nick) Holodniuk of Canora; 19 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.

BODNAREK: Mike Bodnarek, 73, of Calgary and formerly of Rhein, died July 1. Burial was at the Mountain View Cemetery in Calgary.

Born September 28, 1927, in Rhein to Ted and Agnes Bodnarek, he attended Luzan School and moved to Calgary in the early 1960s. He married Rose McKay in 1973 and was employed by Westeel Roscoe for 25 years as a foreman supervisor. In his retirement, he worked as an apartment caretaker.

Predeceased by his wife in 1987, his parents, two brothers, Walter of Medicine Hat, Alta., and Nick of Winnipeg, and an infant sister Ann, he is survived by two brothers, John (Pauline) of Yorkton and Ron (Rose) of Kamsack, and four sisters, Lena (John) Korol of Canora, Mary Bodnarek of Vancouver, Alice Bates of Calgary and Bernice (Alvin) Yarechewski of Winnipeg.

WESSAN: Funeral service for Gus Wessan, 89, of Yorkton and formerly of the Stenen district, who died in the Yorkton and District Nursing Home July 12, was held July 17 from St. Mary's Ukrainian Catholic Church in Yorkton with Rev. Ray Lukie officiating. Burial was in Yorkton Memorial Gardens with Bailey's Funeral Home in care of arrangements.

Born May 1, 1912, in Skala, Ukraine to Alex and Antonina (nee Hrabchuk) Wesochansky, he immigrated to Canada at 14 years of age and settled in the Stenen area where he farmed with his family until his marriage to Pauline Soltys on February 17, 1934 in Sts. Peter and Paul Ukrainian Catholic Church in Canora. He farmed until 1974 when he retired to Yorkton. He was a member of St. Mary's Ukrainian Catholic church and was active with the New Horizons Senior Citizens.

Predeceased by his parents and his stepfather, he is survived by his wife; one son, Eugene (Claire) of Gloucester, Ont.; two daughters, Annette (Harold) Gogal of Springside and Gladys (Alex) Nahachewsky of Saskatoon; six grandchildren, and six great-grandchildren.
