Canora Courier, July 16, 2001 DIAKOW: Funeral service for Kathleen (Kay) Diakow, 81, of Edmonton and formerly of Preeceville, who died July 11, was held July 16 at Protection of the Blessed Virgin Mary Ukrainian Catholic Church in Edmonton with Rev. Serhiy Harahuc officiating. Burial was in St. Michael's Cemetery with Park Memorial Ltd. in care of arrangements. Born
in 1920, southwest of Preeceville, she attended a country school in the
Hryhoriw district. After completing her education, she worked at home on the
farm. She went to Hamilton during the Second World War and later returned to
the farm. She married Tony Diakow in 1947 and they moved to Toronto and a
short time later back to Preeceville, where she worked at the seniors' hostel
and Paul Gulka's grocery store. In 1968, they moved to Kamsack and she worked
at Stedman's clothing store and Harry's Bakery. In 1972, they moved to
Edmonton where she worked for the (obit incomplete). Canora Courier, July 16, 2001 ZAHARUIK: William Zaharuik, formerly of Buchanan, Sask., passed away after a lengthy battle with cancer at the Glenmore Park Auxiliary Hospital in Calgary on Thursday, July 12, 2007 at the age of 63. He will be sadly missed by his brothers John Maximnuk, of Buchanan, Sask, and Ed Zaharuik of Maple Creek, Sask., and sisters Doris Christensen and Mary and her husband, Doug McCallum, both of Calgary. A memorial service will be held at a later date. |
