BARKER:  Funeral service for Dora Barker, 88, of Canora, and formerly of Preeceville, who died September 30 at Canora Gateway Lodge, was held October 4 in the chapel of Preeceville Funeral Home with Rev. Miles Russell officiating. Burial was in Rockford Community Cemetery with Preeceville Funeral Home in care of arrangements.

Born October 1, 1912, in the Mylor district of Manitoba, she attended Mylor School. She worked at housework, babysitting, as a waitress and seamstress. She married Lloyd Barker on April 11, 1946, at the United Church manse in Weyburn and was a member of the women's auxiliary to the Church of the Good Shepherd in Rockford.

Predeceased by her parents, William and Beatrice Bridges, six brothers, Donald in 1920, Forrest in 1981, Lloyd in 1988, Lewis in 1990, Melvin in 1990, and Harold in 1998, and a sister, Stella Dills in 2001, she is survived by her former husband, Lloyd; three sons, Larry (Helen) of Salmon Arm, B.C., Lynden (Marylee) of Prince George, B.C., and Lyle (Bev) of Hudson Bay; a daughter, Donna (Don) Hard of Rockford; a brother, Allan (Frances) Bridges of Cartwright, Man.; a sister, Eva Moore of Winnipeg, seven grandchildren, and six great-grandchildren.

LEASON:  A graveside service for George Leason, 70, of Usherville, who died October 8 at Preeceville Hospital, was held October 13 at St. John's Ukrainian Orthodox Cemetery (Usherville) with Pastor Greg Bright officiating. Leson's Funeral Home was in care of arrangements.

Born on April 8, 1931, to Metro and Katie (Strelezki) Leason in Usherville, he attended Cheremosz West School. He worked in Flin Flon and then in Toronto, before returning to Saskatchewan to work in Regina. He worked in a mine at Thompson and then as a heavy equipment operator for highways in the Yukon. He retired to Usherville and was the mayor of the community for several years.

Predeceased by his parents, Metro and Katie, two brothers, William and John, and four sisters, Verna, Mary, Sadie and Jennie, he is survived by a son, Greg of Thompson; a brother, Mike of Moose Jaw; four sisters, Dora Rupchan of Regina, Pauline Boyd of Victoria, Anne, (Don) Walter of Regina and Rose Getz of Regina, and one grandson.
