Canora Courier, October 31, 2001 GLUTE: Funeral service for Rev. Basil Glute, 81, of Lemburg and formerly of the Veregin and Wroxton districts, who died on October 13 in the Pasqua Hospital in Regina, was held October 19 from St. Mary's Church in Yorkton with Rev. John Sianchuk, Rev. Dmytro Dnistrian, Rev. Bryan Bayda, Rev. Vladimir Kolpakov, Rev. Peter Pidskainy, Rev. Len Ratushniak, Rev. Joseph Denischuk and Rev. Methodium Kushko officiating. Burial was in Yorkton City Cemetery with Bailey's Funeral Home in care of arrangements. Born
March 20, 1920 in the Veregin district to Onufrey and Jawdocha (Shordee) Glute,
he received his primary education at Rona School before entering the Ukrainian
Redemptorist Seminary in Yorkton. On September 8, 1946, he was ordained a
priest by Archbishop Basil Ladyka in Yorkton. During his ministry, he served
at Ituna, Melville, Whitesand, Calder, Wroxton, Serves and in Fort Frances and
Kenora, Ont. Predeceased by is father in 1970, his mother in 1966, two brothers, Harry in 1963 and Mike in 2001 and four sisters, Ann Andrychuk in 1946, Lena Mosiondz in 1977, Catherine Martin in 1983 and Sister Krescentia in 1998, he is survived by one brother, Metro (Ann) Glute, and one sister, Mabel (Alex) Ostafie. Funeral service for Mary Konkin, 92, of Canora, who died October 23 at
her residence, was held October 26 at the Canora Doukhobor Prayer Home with
the Canora Doukhobor Society officiating. Burial was in the Canora Cemetery
with Leson's Funeral Home in care of arrangements. Born
on March 1, 1909, in the Canora district to Peter and Tina (Savinkoff)
Negraeft, she attended Phoenix School. In 1930, she married Peter Konkin and
they farmed in the Buchanan district. In 1955, they moved to Canora. Predeceased by her parents, Peter and Tina, her husband Peter, four sisters, Anne Zarin and Lil Nesbitt, Polly Zurloff and Nellie Danchuk, and a brother John, she is survived by a son, Allan (Julia) of Yorkton; two daughters, Lucille Dergousoff of Canora and Alice (Ken) Stushnoff of Moose Jaw, two brothers, Henry (Doris) of Canora and Peter (Sylvia) of Pelly, a sister, Tina Lapshinoff of Canora; eight grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. Funeral service for Elis Edmund Lindgren, 88, of Yorkton and formerly of
Kuroki, who died October 11 in the Yorkton Regional Health Centre, was held
October 15 from Christie-Hill Funeral Chapel with Rev. Richard Gibson
officiating. Burial was in Yorkton Memorial Gardens with Christie-Hill Funeral
chapel and Crematorium in care of arrangements. Born
on the family farm near Kuroki on November 28, 1912 to Albert and Augusta
Lindgren, he attended Kuroki School to the age of 15 when he began helping on
the farm. In 1930, he went to Flin Flon, Man., to help operate a small dairy.
Three years later, he returned to Kuroki and in 1937, he married Dorothy
Adeline Barge. He retired from farming in 1963 and two years later, moved to
Buchanan where he owned and operated Plaxin's Garage until 1975 when he moved
to Thompson, Man., to work for the Mystery Lake School Board. In 1978, he
returned to Yorkton. In June, 1980, he married Signe Grandquist. Predeceased by his parents, his first wife Dorothy in 1978, four brothers, Elmer, Eric, Axel and Enfred, three sisters, Violet, Wilma and one in infancy, and a son, Allen Elmer in 1995, he is survived by his wife, Signe; two daughters, Carol (George) Hepp of Thompson, man and Ivadelle (Ernie) Sasyniuk of Yorkton; two sons, Edmund of Yorkton and Frank Lewellyn (Joanne) of Buchanan; an adopted daughter, Anne (Blair) Alderson; 13 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren, and three great-great-grandchildren. Funeral service for Walter Peter Strukoff, 86, of Polly, who died at home on
October 20, was held October 24 from the chapel of Andrychuk Funeral Home in
Kamsack with his children officiating. Burial was in Peaceful Cove Cemetery in
the Polly district with E. Andrychuk Funeral Home in care of arrangements. Born March 23, 1915 in the Polly district to Peter and Anastasia Strukoff, he was educated at Racing Lake School and worked as the Pioneer Grain elevator agent for 32 years. He was a member of the Doukhobor society, and former mayor of Polly who was instrumental in the construction of a number of buildings in the community including the skating rink and community Hall. He was a member of the Polly Credit Union board, the Happy Hearts Drop-In Centre, the school board and served as a sports coach. On May 17, 1936, he married Margaret Rezansoff in Polly. Predeceased by his parents, he is survived by his wife; three sons, Nick (Leone) of Calgary, Walter (Dawn) of Falkland, B.C. and Ed (Cyndi) of Wadena; two daughters, Alvina (Rick) Soukeroff of Airdrie, Alta and Shirley Strukoff of Kimberly, B.C.; one sister, Cassie Kabatoff of Claresholm, Alta.; nine grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren. |
