Canora Courier, July 03, 2002 MOSIONDZ: A memorial service for Peter Metro Mosiondz, 71, of Swan River and formerly of Canora, who died June 7 at the Swan Valley Lodge, was held from the Pentecostal Tabernacle in Swan River June 11, with Pastor Reg Rivett officiating. Burial was in Birchwood Cemetery with Swan Valley Funeral Services in care of arrangements. Born in Canora to Metro and Rose (nee Hrycuyk) Mosiondz on July 14, 1930, he was raised on a farm and received his education in the Lenswood district. Moving to Swan River, he worked at a variety of jobs, including bartender and cook, then moved to Barrows where, on June 29, 1954 in the Swan River United Church he married Grace Ralston. The couple moved to Wanless where he joined the department of highways as a grader operator. They moved to Barrows, then to Wabowden before returning to Swan River. Predeceased by his father in 1984 and his mother in 1942, he is survived by his wife; three sons, Hilbert (Elizabeth) of Wabowden, Richard (Darlene) of Elkford, B.C. and Blair (Sandra) of Swan River; one daughter, Cindy (Dennis) Jonasson of Wabowden; a brother, Orest (Pauline) of Birch River; two sisters, Victoria (Albert) Gross of Winnipeg and Phylis (Fred) Lasiuk of Birch River; nine grandchildren, and eight great-grandchildren. Canora Courier, July 03, 2002 HAWK: Funeral service for Anna Hawks, 92, of Yorkton, who died June 18 at the Park Unit of the Yorkton Regional Health Centre, was held June 22 at the Yorkton Memorial Gardens Family Centre with Rev. Joseph MacLellan officiating. Burial was in the SS. Peter and Paul Romanian Orthodox Parish Cemetery. Born on Dec. 16, 1909, in the Canora district to Wasyl and Domnica (Danchilla) Gullasan, she attended Canora Elementary School. She married David Hawks on Feb. 5, 1931, at SS. Peter and Paul Romanian Orthodox Church. They lived in Canora for a period before moving to Nelson and Slocan, B.C. After her husband died in 1958, she returned to Saskatchewan with two daughters. They took up residence in Yorkton, where her son lived. She worked as a cook at Bobby's Pancake House for many years before she retired. Predeceased by her parents, her husband David, four brothers, John, Alex Dmetr and Colin, and two sisters, Mary Parsons and Alexandra Berndt, she is survived by a son, Jack (Iris) Hawk of Yorkton; two daughters, Elizabeth (Barry) Johb of Saskatoon and Alexandra Hawks of Yorkton; eight grandchildren, and six great-grandchildren. Canora Courier, July 03, 2002 SECUNDIAK: Funeral service for Dan Emil Secundiak, 53, of Yorkton and formerly of Canora, Stenen and Sturgis, who died June 17 at the Yorkton Regional Health Centre, was held June 21 at St. Mary's Ukrainian Catholic church in Yorkton with Rev. Dmytro Dnistrian officiating. Burial was in Yorkton Memorial Gardens with Bailey's Funeral Home in care of arrangements. Born at Canora on Oct. 27, 1948 to Emil and Olga (nee Kuzik) Secundiak, he was raised in Stenen and attended school in Stenen and Sturgis, graduating from the Sturgis Composite High School in 1966. He was inducted in the Saskatchewan Baseball Hall of Fame in 1995 and had attended camps for the St. Louis Cardinals baseball team, the Brandon Wheat Kings Hockey Club, Regina Pats, Saskatoon Blades and Melville Millionaires. In 1968, he began working with the Bank of Montreal in Weyburn where he joined the Weyburn Canadians fastball club, which became the Canadian fastball champions in 1972. He played with the Saskatoon Jacks and Winnipeg Colonels fastball clubs and was a member of the Yorkton Old Relies recreation hockey team. On Sept. 1, 1973, he married Angie Dranchuk. Predeceased by his father in 1988 and his mother in 1998, he is survived by his wife; daughter Catherine (Chris Crellin); son Trevor; brother Merv (Sharon), and two grandchildren. Canora Courier, July 03, 2002 PROCYSHEN: Funeral service for Doris Procyshen, 87, of the Park unit of the Yorkton Regional Health Centre, and formerly of Kuroki, who died June 21, was held June 29 at Yorkton City Cemetery. Cremation took place at Yorkton Memorial Gardens Crematorium with Bailey's Funeral Home in care of arrangements. Born Oct. 20, 1914 at Guelph, Ont., to Percy and Annie (nee Laking) Daniels, she moved with her family to Yorkton where she received her education. She worked as a secretary with the department of highways and married John Procyshen in 1954. The couple moved to Kuroki in 1973, and then in 1997, to Willowbrook near Yorkton. She moved into the Park unit in 2000. Predeceased by her parents and three brothers, she is survived by her husband; one son, Brian (Dawn) of Yorkton; a stepson, Larry of Winnipeg, and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Funeral service for Roger Rowan Rioch, 54, of Invermay, who died May 28, was
held June 3 at Invermay Community Hall with Terry Tompkins officiating. Burial
was in Invermay Cemetery with Tompkins Funeral Home in care of arrangements. Born
in Wadena on Jan. 8, 1948 to Frank and Nora Rioch, he took most of his
schooling in Invermay and Kuroki and took his journeyman's ticket at Fairview,
Alta. He lived most of his life in Invermay, but also lived in High Level,
Alta, and Tisdale for brief periods. Predeceased by his father and a step-father, Lyle, he is survived by his wife, Wanda; three sons, Richard, Kelly and Kevin; his mother; three brothers, Jack (Eileen), Frank (Laverne) Randy (Bev); three sisters, Noreen (John), Lynette (Steven) and Lylea (Allan), and one granddaughter. Canora Courier, July 03, 2002 ANAKA: Funeral service for Zovie Anaka, 90, of the Stenen district, who died June 26 at the Kamsack Nursing Home, was held June 29 at Leson's Funeral Home with Rev. Rod Luciuk officiating. Burial was in the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary Parish Cemetery, north of Stenen, with Leson's Funeral Home in care of arrangements. Born on Feb. 15, 1912, in the Stenen district to George and Annie Anaka, she attended Goodhue School. She helped on the family farm, but as she matured, she looked after her aging parents and two brothers. She was a long-time member of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary Church, north of Stenen, Predeceased by her parents, George and Annie; three brothers, John, Mike and Bill, and three sisters, Anne Anaka, Mary Reilly and Pauline Stevens, she is survived by two sisters, Wasylena Anaka of Canora and Olga Michaluk of Sturgis. Canora Courier, July 03, 2002 WEINMASTER: Funeral service for Allan Alexander Weinmaster, 80, of Rokeby and formerly of Rhein, who died June 17 a the Yorkton Regional Health Centre, was held June 21 from Christie-Hill Funeral Chapel with Pastor Steve Rosluk officiating. Burial was in Yorkton Memorial Gardens with Christie-Hill Funeral Chapel and Crematorium of Yorkton in care of arrangements. Born Apr. 1, 1922 in Rhein to Alex and Molly (nee Becker) Weinmaster, he received his education in Rhein. He farmed, worked as a janitor at Clyde School and worked for the RM of Saltcoats from 1958 to 1974. He served as a council for the RM of Wallace since 1980. Predeceased by his father, his former spouse, Margaret (nee Liebrecht) and a son, Glen Allen, he is survived by his wife Jean of Rokeby; three daughters, Anita (Marcel) of Weyburn, Elaine (Ronald) of Strongfield and Judy (Wesley) of Flaxcombe; two sons, Rodney (Edna) of Saskatoon and Kenneth (JoAnne) of White City; his mother of Yorkton; two sisters, Irene (Harry) of Humboldt and Marlene (Robert) of Yorkton; three brothers, Stanley (Linda) of Medicine Hat, Alta, Arnold (Sally) of Yorkton and Milbert (Sybil) of Yorkton; 11 grandchildren, and 21 great-grandchildren. |
