Funeral service for John (Jack) Douglas Blewett, 96, of KamsacK, who
died Mar. 27 in the Kamsack Hospital, was held Apr. 1 from the chapel of
Andrychuk Funeral Home with Kamsack Royal Canadian Legion branch padre, Rev.
Stephen Ruten and Kamsack Legion president Ray Muir officiating. Burial was in
Riverview Cemetery in Kamsack with E. Andrychuk Funeral Home in care of
arrangements. Born
Jan. 5, 1906 in Stony Plain, Alta., to W. G. and Evelena Blewett, he attended
public and high school in Kamsack, then worked for the Canadian National
Railway, at lumber camps in British Columbia and construction of grain
elevators. He joined the Royal Canadian Air force in 1939, then returned to
the railway after his discharge in 1945. He was a member of the Royal Canadian
Legion, the United Transportation Union, and the RCAF Ex-Prisoner of War
Association. On June 6, 1946, he marred Ada Alice Clark in Duncan, B.C. Predeceased by his wife in 1937, four sisters, Ethel Carss, Jean Hunter, Marjorie Murray and Irene Davidson, and two brothers, Delbert (Deb) and Harold, he is survived by one son, Clark (Diana) of Saskatoon, and one brother, Wilfred (Jean) of Ottawa. Funeral service for Madeline Prodanuk, 93, of Kamsack, and formerly of
Rhein, who died Mar. 30 at the Kamsack and District Nursing Home, was held
Apr. 2 from the chapel of Andrychuk Funeral Home with Pastor Carl Rushton
officiating. Burial was in Riverview Cemetery in Kamsack with E. Andrychuk
Funeral Home in care of arrangements. Born
Feb. 19, 1909 in Rhein to Wasyl and Paraska Palmarick, she attended a country
school in the Rhein district, then farmed and worked at the Saskatchewan
Dairies egg candling plant in Saskatoon. She was a member of the Pentecostal
Church. On Dec. 17, 1951, she married Mathew Prodanuk in Kamsack. Predeceased by her husband, parents, two brothers, Peter and John Palmarick, a sister, Martha Achtemichuk, and a stepdaughter, Kathleen Morozoff, she is survived by three stepsons, John (Diane) of Regina, Tom (Lillian) of Abbotsford, B.C., and Rodger (Faithe) of Saskatoon; three stepdaughters, Carrie Chypyha of Kamsack, Emilie (Bill) Johnston of Edmonton and Bella Corewyn of Burnaby, B.C.; one sister, Sophia Hlukman of Prince Albert, and numerous step-grandchildren. Funeral service for Fred Kozmech, 80, of Saskatoon and formerly of the Hamton
district, who died Mar. 27 in the Sunnyside Nursing Home in Saskatoon, was
hold Apr. 1 from St. Andrew's United Church in Yorkton with Rev. Art Cross
officiating. Burial was in Yorkton Memorial Gardens with Bailey's Funeral Home
in care of arrangements. Born
May 15, 1921 in the Hamton district to Nicholai and Katrina (nee Zvizinski),
he attended Mannafeld School in Hamton and worked for farmers in the Tonkin
area. During the Second World War, he trained with the Royal Canadian Army at
Victoria, but received a pardon to begin farming. He farmed in the Yorkton and
Tonkin district until 2001. On Oct. 25, 1947, he married Alvina Kshanowski at
the Ukrainian Orthodox Church in Yorkton. He was the janitor and school
trustee of the Anemone School and was a member of the Ukrainian Business Men's
Association, the Saskatchewan Wheat Pool, the Hereford Association and a
founding member of the Tonkin Curling rink. Predeceased by his parents, six sisters, Lena and Domka in infancy, Polly Filipchuk, Helen Achtymichuk, Sadie Homanchuk and Mary Kozmech, and four brothers, John, William, Steve and Dan, he is survived by his wife; one son, Larry of Yorkton; three daughters, Carol (Bob) Kaschi of Saskatoon, Carla (Ken) Cadrain of Saskatoon and Valerie (Garry) Matechuk of Regina; one brother, George Kozmech of Yorkton; 10 grandchildren, and one great-grandson Canora Courier, April 10, 2002 DOZOREC:
Funeral service for Steve Dozorec, 85, of Yorkton and formerly of the
Stornoway-Calder district, who died Mar. 22 at the Yorkton Regional Health
Centre, was held Mar. 27 from St. Mary's Ukrainian Catholic Church in Yorkton
with Rev. Dmytro Dnistrian officiating. Burial was in the St. Vladimir and
Olga Cemetery in Wroxton with Bailey's Funeral Home in care of arrangements. Born
Jan. 10, 1917 to Dmytro and Nancy (nee Zelaney) in the Stornoway district, he
attended McGillivery School and school at Kamsack He worked at a Massey-Harris
dealership in Kamsack as a mechanic and in 1940 purchased the area's first
rubber-tired tractor. On Aug. 6, 1944, he married Anne Yasinsky, and in 1949
the couple purchased their own land in the Calder district where they farmed
until moving to Yorkton in 1958. At Yorkton, he worked at Hluchanek's Turkey
Farms, the City of Yorkton, the Metropolitan Store and with Kursch
Construction. He served as a trustee for Golden Jubilee School in the Calder
district and was a member of the Ukrainian Catholic Brotherhood and of the New
Horizons. In 1983, he moved to the West coast, returning four years later.
After the death of his wife, he married Helen Velechka in 1989, and the couple
moved to Invermay. He returned to Yorkton after his wife's death. Predeceased by both wives, Anne in 1987 and Helen in 1990, his father in 1927, mother in 1984 and a sister, Katie Ogrodnick, he is survived by two sons, Henry (Lorraine) of Wroxton and James of Regina; one brother, John (Adella) of Yorkton; one sister, Anne Wlasichuk of Kamsack; his stepfather, Nick Fedoras; four grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; two great-stepchildren, and one great-great-stepchild. Memorial service for Arnold Gordon Rediger, 70, of Minnedosa, Man., and
formerly of Margo and Wadena, who died Mar. 20, will be hold June 18 at Margo,
with interment in the Margo Cemetery. Born
at Wadena to Herman and Kate Rediger, he was raised and educated at Margo and
married Edna Mary EberIe of Spalding and worked as a mechanical supervisor. He
moved to the Minnedosa district in 1986. Predeceased by a brother Wilbur, and his father, he is survived by his wife; two sons, Keith (Yvonne) and Philip (Sandra); one daughter, Jacqueline (Brent) Elliott; two brothers, Norman of Preeceville and Reuben of Wadena, and seven grandchildren. Canora Courier, April 10, 2002 SIRNEUK: Funeral service for Eva Sirneuk, 86, of Buchanan, who died Apr. 1 at Canora Hospital, was held Apr. 4 at the Ukrainian Orthodox Church of the Holy Trinity with Rev. Peter Wasylenko officiating. Burial was in the Canora Cemetery with Christie-Hill Funeral Chapel and Crematorium in care of arrangements. Born on Feb. 26, 1916, to Onufry and Elizabeth (Zahara) Pasichnyk in the Tuffnel district, she attended Rivington School, south of Tuffnel before working on many farms. She married Arthur Simeuk on Nov. 14, 1936, and they farmed south of Buchanan until 1975, when they retired to Buchanan. Due to ill health, she moved to Canora in February of 2000 where she lived with her niece. As her health worsened, she was placed in the Kuroki Care Home and in January of 2001, she was transferred to the Canora Gateway Lodge. She was a member of the Ukrainian Orthodox churches in Buchanan and Canora. Predeceased by her parents, Onufry and Elizabeth Pasichnyk, her husband Arthur on Mar. 9, 1977, four sisters, Mary Nickoliachuk, Anne Hudak, Irene Badiuk and Bella Melnechuk and two brothers, George and John, she is survived by two sisters, Dora (George) Charopita of Yorkton and Katie Karmazinuk of Foam Lake. |
