Canora Courier, April 24, 2002 PROTSACK:
Funeral service for Barbara Protsack, 85, of Benito and formerly of
Preeceville, Whitebeech and Hazel Dell, who died Mar. 24 at the Health
Sciences Centre in Winnipeg, was held Mar. 28 from Holy Spirit Ukrainian
Catholic Church in Benito with Rev. Edward N. Kwiatkowski officiating. Burial
was in St. Dymetro
Cemetery at Whitebeech with Paull Funeral Home and Crematorium in care of
arrangements. Born
in Preeceville on Oct. 26, 1916 to Emil and Dora (nee Kleba) Lucyk, she
received her education at Halycry and Orangewale schools, and had lived
briefly in Hazel Dell prior to her marriage to Bill John Protsack on June 10,
1944 at Transfiguration Greek Catholic Church in Preeceville. The couple lived
in Whitebeech from 1944 to 1974 when they retired to Benito. Predeceased by her father in 1962, mother in 1958, her husband in 1991, two brothers, Bill in 1957 and Steve in 1987, and two sisters, Lena Bloski in 1994 and Anna Slugoski in 1996, she is survived by one son, Steve (Jane) of Edmonton; daughter, Ann Marie (James) Jarjuck of Winnipeg; two sisters, Mary Kowalyshyn of Edmonton and Antonia Witow of Calgary; four grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren.

Funeral service for Stella Kormylo-Nolette, 86, of Kamsack, who died
Apr. 9 at Regina General Hospital, was held Apr. 18 from St. Stephen's Roman
Catholic Church in Kamsack with Rev. Hector Seville officiating. Burial was in
Glen Eden Memorial Gardens in Winnipeg with E. Andrychuk Funeral Home of
Kamsack in care of arrangements. Born
Mar. 7, 1916 in Invermay to Jan and Teresa (nee Gliva) Barteski, she worked as
a professional cook at the Royal Alaskan and Fort Garry hotels In 1974, she
married Adrien Nolotte in Winnipeg. Predeceased by her parents, five brothers, Joseph, Walter, Mike, Ben and Paul Barteski, and two sisters, Anne Siren and Mary Danylnk, and one son, William Homenuik, she, is survived by her husband; two sons, Lou (Jan) Parker of Lawrenceville, GA and Garry (Eilleen) Kormyko of Winnipeg; seven grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren. Funeral service for Lillian Part, 86, of Rose Valley Community Spirit
Manor, and formerly of Invermay, Quill Lake and Theodore, who died Mar. 9, was
held Mar. 14 at Narfason's Funeral Chapel in Wadena with James Babuik and
Heidi Pawluk as speakers. Burial was in Invermay Cemetery with Narfason's
Funeral Chapel and Crematorium in care of arrangements. Born
north of Invermay on Feb. 26, 1916 to Elden and Anna (nee Philija) Haning, she
attended school at Silver Springs near Okla and Loch Sloy, north of Invermay.
She worked for a number of families until her marriage to Robert Parr on Apr.
3, 1938 at Mason School near Invermay. The couple lived on the farm near
Invermay until moving to Quill Lake in 1347 where they operated a garage until
1906 when they became semi-retired. After retiring fully in 1979, they moved
to Theodore where she stayed until last year when she moved to Rose Valley. Predeceased by her husband in 1988, her father in 1953, mother in 1965, two brothers, Pete Arnie in 1992 and Frank Haning in 2001, and two sisters, Elsie Whyman in 1967 and Louise Ferguson in 2001, she is survived by seven children, Arnold Parr of Christchurch, New Zealand, Lorraine (Maurice) Van Den Bossche of Saskatoon, Glenn Parr of Theodore, Calvin (Betty) Parr of DeWinton, Alta., Marvin Parr of Thorns Lake, B.C., Marlene Pawluk of Quill Lake and Jenine (Wayne) Morrissey of Thompson, Man.; two brothers, Wilbert (Joyce) Haning of Rose Valley and George (Madeline) Haning of Buchanan; 20 grandchildren, and 18 great-grandchildren. Funeral service for Mary Zaharia, 82, of the Invermay Health Centre,
who died Apr. 16 at the Health Centre, was held Apr. 20 at the Holy Trinity
Ukrainian Orthodox Church in Sturgis with Rev. Peter Anhel officiating. Burial
was in the Canora Cemetery with Leson's Funeral Home in care of arrangements. Born
on May 10, 1919, to John and Annie (Hupka) Stinka in the Mamornitz district,
she attended Mamornitz School. She helped on the family farm and on Oct. 14,
1941, married Metro Zaharia at Mamornitz. They farmed with his parents for a
short period before moving to Ketchen. Over the years, she lived in Hyas,
Preeceville and Prince George, B.C., before retiring to Preeceville. She was a
member of the UWAC in Hyas and Sturgis. She became a resident of the Invermay
Health Centre in August of 2001. Predeceased by her husband, Metro, and her parents John and Annie, she is survived by two sons, Orest (Carole) Zaharia of Hinton, Alta., and Gerald (Janet) of Hanna, Alta.; two daughters, Iris Bogucky of Hyas and Gloria (Neil) Durette of Saskatoon; 12 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. Funeral service for Alex Korb, 90, of Yorkton and formerly of Rhein,
Runnymede, Togo and Calder, who died Apr. 11 at the Yorkton and District
Nursing Home, was held Apr. 15 at Yorkton Memorial Gardens Family Centre with
Rev. Faye Greer of Westview United Church officiating. Burial was in Yorkton
Memorial Gardens with Bailey's Funeral Home in care of arrangements. Born Sept. 27, 1911 in Rhein, he married Susan Pfeifer on July 12, 19J4 in the Runnymede Lutheran Church. He was a carpenter and farmer who lived in Runnymede, Nipawin, Togo, Calder and Selkirk, Man., until he moved to Yorkton. Predeceased by three brothers, George, Dave and Jack and three sisters, Katie, Mary and Millie, he is survived by his wife; three daughters, Wilma (Ed) Zabowski of Kelowna, B.C., Elaine (Ray) Salyn of Winnipeg and Almina (Louis) Cailloux of Ottawa; four sons, Stanley of Thunder Pay, Out., Raymond (Barbara) of Winnipeg, Roland (Annette Diduck) of Calder and David (Henrietta) of Calder: 19 grandchildren, and 14 great-grandchildren. |
