Canora Courier, March 27, 2002

COWLEY:  A memorial service for Ronald Cowley, of Saskatoon, and formerly of Canora, who died Mar. 18 at his residence, was held at ST. John's Anglican Cathedral in Saskatoon Mar. 22 with Rev. Brian Evans officiating. Internment was at St. John's Columbarium with Park Funeral Chapel in care of arrangements. Born to Harry and Winnifred Cowley in Saskatoon on Dec. 11, 1926, he married Lucille (Betty) Acton on May 9, 1953. A career banker, he worked his entire life with the CIBC and was stationed in Saskatoon, Lacadena, Birch Hills, Blaine Lake, Lloydminster, Riverhurst, Rockglen and Canora before returning to Saskatoon and retiring from the bank. He was manager of the Canora branch for 16 years, transferring back to Saskatoon in 1983. He was active in the community wherever he went and took great pride in his involvement in Masons for the past 50 years and especially the Kiwanis clubs where he held various club and district positions throughout his 30-year involvement with the organization. Following an earlier heart attack, he got involved in the cardiac program and found his place helping others in the program, where he spent a lot of time visiting cardiac patients at the hospitals. Predeceased by his parents, he is survived by his wife Lucille (Betty); three sons, Norman (Vanessa) of Edmonton, Kevin of Saskatoon and Keith (Cheryl) of Oshawa; two daughters, Arlene (Les) Jaster of Ponoka, Alta. and Glenda (Dale) Lazurko of Willowbrook; two sisters Doris (Ray) Crone of Saskatoon and June (Gene) Grimes of Gull Lake, and 10 grandchildren.
