In Loving Memory Travis Sleeva 1988-2004

Funeral service for Travis Michael Sleeva, 16, of the Buchanan area, who died Dec. 6 in the Rural Municipality of Keys, was held Dec. 11 at St. Joseph’s Roman Catholic Church with Rev. Hector Seville officiating.  Burial was in the Canora Cemetery with Leson’s Funeral Home in care of arrangements.

Travis was born on Jan. 20, 1988, to a family that could not wait for his arrival.  He was a vibrant boy that wanted to hug and give affection to everyone around him.  As a young boy, Travis attended the Canora schools.  He loved to play hockey and, as he got older, archery became his passion as well.  Travis was also very creative, curious and inventive.  He would try to take apart anything he could and then he would try and find new ways of putting it back together.  Travis loved his parents, Gary and Carol, more than anything.  He also loved his brother, Mathew, and his sister, Alecea, deeply and was never more complete than when all five family members were together.  He was the kind of boy who would never forget or pass up on the opportunity to tell his family that he loved the.  Travis also had a very special place in his heart for his grandparents, and all of his aunts, uncles and cousins.  All of them have very fond memories of family gatherings, either at the farm or in B.C.  He was always ready to contribute to the family fun, even if it meant taking a dare from his aunt Peggy and joining her in doing a polar bear swim in the ocean.  Everyone remembers Travis as he grew up and moved through the imaginary world of bank robbers and heroes, to pondering the wonders of the world and realizing his love of the ocean and the rocks that the tide swept onto the beach, as well as all of the other traits and interests that surfaced from within Travis during the stages of his life.  All of these things and more, made up the very core of who Travis was.

He was completely a farm boy at heart and everyone around him knew it.  He loved the outdoors, snowmobiling and mechanics.  He would never pass up on a stray kitten and he would try and save every single one that he could.  Travis loved being on his farm and going to the Prokopetz farm to help do chores.

Travis had lifelong friendships and relationships that will last in the hearts of those people forever.  Travis will be dearly and deeply missed by his family and many, many friends.

Predeceased by his grandfathers, John L. Sleeva and Ernie Haw, and an uncle, Ivan Haw, he is survived by his parents, Gary and Carol; a brother, Mathew; a sister, Alecea; his grandmothers, Stella Sleeva and Rose Haw; and his uncles and aunts, Joyce (Sig) Splett, Delores (Ray) Pentland, Peggy Haw (Patrick Boyer), Dennis (Lori) Haw and Hazel (Pat) Hatelid.

In Deepest Appreciation

A special thank you to everyone who has gone out of their way and put their own lives on hold in order to spend time with our family and for being there when we especially needed them, and to our family, some of who have travelled so far, for getting here so quickly and for being here.  Your support, your kindness and your love will never be forgotten.
