HUMENIUK:  Funeral service of Annie Humeniuk, 95, of Canora, who died Aug. 29 at the Canora Gateway Lodge, was held Sept. 3 at the Ukrainian Orthodox Church of the Holy trinity with Rev. Peter Wasylenko officiating.  Burial was in the Canora Cemetery with Leson’s Funeral Home in care of arrangements.

Born on Sept. 27, 1908, to Mathew and Irene (Stratychuk) Kopeck in the Burgis district, she attended Poplar Springs School.  She worked on the family farm until she married John Humeniuk on Feb. 24, 1925.  They purchased their own farm southwest of Canora, where they farmed for 50 years.  She was known as an avid gardener.

Predeceased by her husband John, a son Ernie, her parents Mathew and Irene, two grandchildren, Patricia Ann and Larry Demchuk, three brothers, Steve, Peter and Mike and three sisters, Frances Zorian, Mary Homeniuk and Albena Diak, she is survived by four sons, Bill (Susie) of Logan Lake, B.C., Paul (Margaret) of Surrey, B.C., Norman (Minnie) of Regina and Michael (Donna) of Regina; five daughters, Jean Demchuk of Chilliwack, B.C., Irene Watson of Langley, B.C., Violet Ostafie of Canora, Vicky (Emil) Ostafie of Canora and Florence (Dan) McNabb of Mission, B.C.; two brothers, Brownie (Bella) Kopeck of Canora and Walter (Mary) Kopeck of Calgary; two sisters, Olga (Bill) Danyluk of Canora and Jean (Harry) Wihnan of Canora; 32 grandchildren; 45 great-grandchildren, and 10 great-great-granchildren.

STECIUK:  Funeral service for Tatianna “Teenie” Steciuk, 94, of Canora, who died Sept. 4 at Canora Hospital, was held Sept. 9 at Leson’s Funeral Home with Eugene Bobyk of the Jehovah’s Witnesses officiating.  Burial was in the Canora Cemetery with Leson’s Funeral Home in care of arrangements.

Born on Nov. 11, 1910, to Daniel and Eudacia Chalus in Canora, she attended Kowalowka School.  She worked on the family farm until she married Mike Steciuk in Canora in February of 1930.  She enjoyed country life.

Predeceased by her husband Mike, her parents Daniel and Eudacia, a brother Bill and four sisters, one in infancy and Sophie, Katherine and Annie, she is survived by a daughter, Lillian Kahler of Winnipeg; three grandchildren; three great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild.

WALKER:  Funeral service for John Frederick Walker, 88, of Foam Lake, and formerly of the Theodore district, who died Sept. 12 at the Yorkton Regional Health Centre, was held Sept. 15 at the Theodore United Church with Rev. Carolyn Argue officiating.  Burial was in the Theodore cemetery with Leson’s Funeral Home in care of arrangements.

Born on Jan. 16, 1916, in Carson, Wash., to Olaf and Bertha (Thomas) Walker, she immigrated to Canada with her family in April of 1918.  They lived in Paddockwood, Sask., until 1930 when the family moved to Candle Lake and then to Meath Park, Sask.  He enlisted with the armed services on Aug. 17, 1940.  On July 2, 1944, he married Elina (Helen) Woroniuk in Regina where they lived until he was discharged from the armed services on Aug. 10, 1946.  They farmed north of Theodore until Sept. 15, 1972, when they moved to Theodore.  He was a member of the Theodore United Church and for 31 years was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion.  He moved to the Foam Lake Nursing Home in 2003.

Predeceased by his wife, Helen, his parents, Olaf and Bertha, three sisters, Bessie, Ellen and Mary, and a brother, James, he is survived by a son, Gary (Betty) Walker of Theodore; a step-son, Leo Gara of Regina, four grandchildren, and one great-grandchild.

YAWNEY:  Funeral service for Anna Yawney, 87, of Canora, who died Sept. 13 at Canora Hospital, was held Sept. 18 at SS. Peter and Paul Ukrainian Catholic Church with Rev. Joakim Rac officiating.  Burial was in the Canora Cemetery with Leson’s Funeral Home in care of arrangements.  Born on Oct. 12, 1916, to Stephen and Evodkia (Yurkiw) Makowsky in the Veregin district, she attended Mazeppa School.  She worked on the farm and babysat for her aunts until her marriage to Peter Yawney on Oct. 18, 1936, in Yorkton.  They farmed in the Rama district until they retired to Canora.  She was active in SS.  Peter and Paul Ukrainian Catholic Church and was a member of the UCWL.  Predeceased by her husband, Peter, her parents, Stephen and Evdokia, three brothers, Walter, John and Nick and a sister, Lena Cherewyk, she is survived by a two daughters, Nancy Shabbits of Canora and Alice (Gerhard) Richter of Osoyoas, B.C.; two grandchildren, and one great-grandchild.
