Brown Funeral Home in Stoney Creek on Oct. 22. Burial was at Mountview Gardens with Donald V. Brown Funeral Home in care of arrangements. Born Apr. 12, 1930 to Sadie and Tony Waselynchuk, on the farm of Dmetro and Anne Waselynchuk north of Stenen, he was a retired employee of International Harvester/J.I. Case with 30 years of service. Predeceased by his parents and a brother, Mike, he is survived by his wife of 52 years, Lucy (nee Grywacheski); two daughters, Valerie (Greg) St. Marie and Christine Waselynchuk; two sons, Gerald (Shirley) and Jeffrey; two sisters, Florence (Ed) Reid and Gloria (Bill) Semeschuk, and two brothers, Paul (Joyce) and Harold (Hedy). Canora Courier October 27, 2004 Page B6 PETERSON: Funeral service for Sylvia Peterson, 62, of Swan River, and formerly of Stenen, who died Oct. 12, was held at the chapel of Swan Valley Funeral Services on Oct. 16 with Pastor Craig Larson officiating. Burial was at Birchwood Cemetery in Swan River with Swan Valley Funeral Services Ltd. in care of arrangements. Born Aug. 30, 1942 in Stenen to Andrew and Nellie Mucha, she married Ture Peterson in 1960 and the couple lived n Benito for awhile, then farmed in Alpine until 1997, when they moved to Swan River. Predeceased by her father in 1976, she is survived by her husband; one son, Rick (Carol) of Swan River; one daughter, Sherry of Winnipeg; her mother of Swan River, and four grandchildren. Canora Courier October 27, 2004 Page B6 BASHFORTH: A memorial service for Arthur Walter Bashforth, 79, of Saskatoon, and formerly of the Okla district, who died Sept. 6 at St. Paul’s Hospital in Saskatoon, was held Sept. 10 at the Park Funeral Chapel in Saskatoon. Interment of the cremains was at the Hillcrest Memorial Gardens in Saskatoon. Born on June 29, 1925, in Saskatoon to Percy and Beatrice Bashforth, he attended Westmount School. When his family moved to Okla, he attended school in the area for a couple of years before his family moved back to Saskatoon. He served overseas during the Second World War. When he returned, he married Vera Rickettes of Okla and they made their home in Saskatoon. He worked as a milkman for the Dairy Producers Co-op for 30 years and then as a sour cream cooker until he retired in 1989. Predeceased by his parents, Percy and Beatrice, four brothers, George, Robert, Roy and Glen, and two sisters, Lily and Vera, he is survived by his wife, Vera; a daughter, Donna (Wally) of Saskatoon; a son, Tim (Leslie) of Calgary; two grandchildren, and four great-great-grandchildren. Canora Courier October 27, 2004 Page B6 WALLIN: Funeral service for Kathleen Wallin, 89, of Moose Jaw, and formerly of Lintlaw, who died Oct. 12 in Moose Jaw, was held Oct. 16 at Parkview Funeral Chapel with Rev. Betty Bradley officiating. Burial was in the Rosedale Cemetery with Parkview Funeral Chapel and Cremation Services in care of arrangements. Born in England, she came to Canada at the age of four. Her early years were spent in the Lintlaw area until her family moved to Moose Jaw in 1954. She worked for the post office in Moose Jaw until she retired in 1980. Predeceased by her husband, Herman, a son, Ray, a brother in infancy, and a sister, Sally, she is survived by her children, Merv (Lois) of Winnipeg; Kay of Moose Jaw, Warren (Lynn) of Regina and Betty-Lou of Moose Jaw; two sisters, Molly (Robert) Wallin and Joan Cross; 14 grandchildren, and 14 great-grandchildren. Canora Courier October 27, 2004 Page B6 HANCHAR: Funeral service for Mike Hanchar, 85, of Yorkton, and formerly of Kamsack and the Hyas district, who died Oct. 10 at Yorkton and District Nursing Home, was held Oct. 13 at the Christie-Hill Funeral Chapel with Pastor Bob Ratzliff of Heritage Baptist Church officiating. Burial was at Stoney Creek Cemetery near Stenen with Christie-Hill Funeral Chapel and Crematorium in care of arrangements. Born Dec. 22, 1918 north of Hyas, to John and Annie Hanchar, he attended Danbury School, then farmed until retiring to Kamsack. He moved to Yorkton, then to the nursing home three years ago. He is survived by two sisters, Alice Moore and Leona Heshka of Winnipeg. |
