Murder suspects appear in court

Marina Quewezance of the Kamsack district and Brian Thompson of the Canora District had their cases adjourned to Nov. 17 in Canora

Marina Quewezance, 30, of the Kamsack district and Brian Thompson, 41, of the Canora district, who are charged with the second-degree murder of Ed Gorski of Canora, made a brief appearance at Provincial Court in Canora on Thursday.

The case was adjourned to Nov. 17 in Canora.

Gorski’s body was discovered on Oct. 24 at 119 Third Avenue East in Canora.

It is believed that he had died a couple of days earlier, said Sgt. Ted Mossop of the Canora RCMP.  At this point, the RCMP do not suspect a connection between this case and a fire which consumed a garage across the back alley from Gorski’s house during the early hours of Oct. 23.  However, it can not be ruled out as the investigation continues.

Following cremation, a funeral service for Gorski, 51, of Canora, was held on Nov. 8 at Leson’s Funeral Home in Canora with Pastor Greg Bright officiating.  Burial was in the Canora Cemetery with Leson’s Funeral Home in care of arrangements.

Born on Oct. 26, 1953, to John and Pauline (Rybchuk) Gorski in Canora, he attended Canora Composite High School.

Predeceased by his father, John, and a sister, Sylvia in infancy, he is survived by his mother, Pauline Gorski; a son, Michael of Prince George; two daughters, Patricia of Lake Cowichan, B.C., and Candace of Brooks, Alta.; three brothers, Dr. Bronnie of Winnipeg; Lou of Winnipeg and Terry (Formerly known as Florian) of Saskatoon; and two grandchildren.

ANAKA:  In loving memory of Peter, husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather, who passed away Nov. 11, 1994.

Softly the leaves of memory fall,

Gently we father and treasure them all;

Unseen, unheard, you’re always near,

So loved, so missed, so very dear.

Today, tomorrow, our whole life through,

We will always love and remember you.

-Olga, Sandra, Linda, Corey and their families.

KORCHYNOS:  In loving memory of a dear father, Peter, who passed on Nov. 7, 1977.

If I had my life to do over,

I’d have chosen you to be my Dad once more;

Even if it meant losing you again,

It’s worth all the tears in the world.

You were my sunshine when skies were grey,

I loved you and honoured you,

You took all my tears away.

I was happy to be with you,

Proud to be your little girl.

To me you meant the world.

Your love was always pure,

You treated me as your own.

Your time seemed all too short,

And I feel so alone.

What heart is completely crushed.

But nothing loved is ever lost,

And you are loved so much.

-Sadly missed and remembered by your daughter Sharon, Randy, Kyle, Devin and Nicole.

KOSAR:  Marion Kathleen (Sept. 4, 1941 – Nov. 11, 2003).

We miss you mom,

We always will;

Deep in our hearts,

You are with us still;

To hear your voice and see your smile,

To sit and talk with you awhile.

To be together in the same old way,

Would be our greatest wish today.

So please God take a message,

To our precious Mom above;

Tell her we really miss her,

And give her all our love.

Tell her we’re all doing fine,

We know we must go on.

Although we loved you dearly,

We couldn’t make you stay;

For when we say you sleeping,

So peaceful, free from pain;

We could not wish you back,

To suffer that again.

-All our love, Albert, Shelley, Jason, Roxane, Gerry, Kassie, Logan and baby Alexa who you never got to meet.

STROEDER:  In memory of Emily Stroeder Oct. 8, 2004.

It’s been a year since we said our goodbyes,

Time has passed but missing you hasn’t;

Your words of wisdom and wonderful smile,

Keeps us going day to day.

Your roses bloomed for us this year,

A reminder that family and friends who gave them to you,

Will always be around to comfort us.

Thanks to Myrtle for having us together for supper,

A year from when you left us to be with the angels,

And free of pain.

-Lovingly missed by Arnold, Sandra, Debbie, Linda and families.
