Canora Courier June 15, 2005 Page 2 SKIBINSKY: Funeral service for Elsie Skibinsky, 73, of Canora, who died June 4 at the Yorkton Regional health Centre, was held June 8 at Leson’s Funeral Home with Rev. Peter Wasylenko officiating. Burial was in the Canora Cemetery with Leson’s Funeral Home in care of arrangements. Born on Mar. 3, 1932, in Donwell district to Steve and Emma (Kuruliak) Korol, she attended Bogucz School. She worked in Canora before she married Carl Skibinsky in Canora on Nov. 5, 1956. They lived in Toronto for 15 years where she worked for Southam Murray Publishing. In 1972, they returned to farm in the Canora district. She worked at I.C. Fabrics. In 1976, they moved to Canora. Predeceased by her parents, Steve and Emma, her husband, Carl, three brothers, John, Harry and Nick, and four sisters, Mary Ostopovich, Ann Martsinkiw, Lena Makowsky and Kay Trembach, she is survived by a son, Darcy (Sharon) of Saskatoon; two sisters, Sophie Malanowich of Canora and Olga (Nick) Evanochko of Saskatoon, and two grandchildren. Canora Courier June 15, 2005 Page 2 BURYM: Funeral service for Evangeline Diana Burym, 64, of Danbury, who died June 4 at the Yorkton Regional Health Centre, was held Jun 11 at Leson’s Funeral Home in Canora with Marion Naduriak officiating, Burial was in the Canora Cemetery with Leson’s Funeral Home in care of arrangements. Born on May 31, 1941, at the Kamsack Union Hospital to Paul and Frances Perrick, she attended Big Horn and Norquay schools. Even as a child, she was active in the United Church, and when she was older, she taught Sunday school. She worked in Regina briefly, but returned home to help her mother with a difficult pregnancy. She married Peter Burym in 1961 at the United church in Canora. She worked alongside her husband, who was a trapper and a rancher. In their later years they travelled to Hawaii, Australia, New Zealand, United States, Texas and took Caribean cruise. Their winter retreat was in Yuma. Predeceased by her father, Paul, her husband, Peter, a son, Fred, and a sister, Phyllis Darlene, she is survived by her mother, Frances Perrick, three sons, Patrick (Janet) of Stenen, Dale (Melanie) of Amsterdam and Brian (Sheri) of Danbury; two brothers, Darold (Adeline) Perrick of Norquay and Allan Perrick of Norquay; four sisters, Cecilia (John) Radchuk of Arabella, Iris (Andrew) Dal of Canora, Paulette (Terry) Nygren of Norquay and Marlene (Brian) Heskin of Norquay; and seven grandchildren. Canora Courier June 15, 2005 Page 2 RUDACHYK: Funeral service for Cora Ethel “Marjorie” Rudachyk, 74, of Regina, who died June 9 at Regina General Hospital, was held June 13 at Leson’s Funeral Home with Thom Carnahan officiating. Burial will take place at a later date with Leson’s Funeral Home in care of arrangements. Born on Feb. 14, 1931, in Carievale, Sask., to Albert and Bertha (Wilson) Pym, she attended Forbesher and Carlyle schools. She went on to become a psychiatric and practical nurse in Selkirk. She married Ted Rudachyk in Carlyle on June 18, 1955. They lived in Ontario, Manitoba and Saskatchewan. She was an accomplished curler. Predeceased by her parents, Albert and Bertha, and a brother, Harold, she is survived by two sons, Garry (Donna) of Norquay and Kevin (Shelley) of Regina; a daughter, JoAnn Rutlege of Norquay; six grandchildren, and one great-grandchild. Canora Courier June 15, 2005 Page 2 SLAPINSKI: Funeral service for Tom Slapinski, 82, of Stenen, who died June 5 at Canora Hospital, was held June 9 at Leson’s Funeral Home with Rev. Ivan Derkach officiating. Burial was in the Canora Cemetery with Leson’s Funeral Home in care of arrangements. Born on Oct. 6, 1922, on the family farm in the Stenen district to Frank and Mary (Parasuik) Slapinski, he attended Goodhue School. He worked on the family farm and on Oct. 27, 1945, he married Eva Kurulak in the Stenen district. When his parents moved to Stenen, Tom and Eva continued to operate the farm. He also worked at a number of logging camps in the area, drove a school bus and did some carpentry work. They were active in the St. Nicholas Ukrainian Catholic Church in Stenen. Predeceased by his parents, Frank and Mary, his wife, Eva, and a sister, Anne Zaharychuk, he is survived by two daughters, Jeanette (Gary) Obuck of Regina and Yvonne (Ernie) Gulka of Preeceville; a sister, Nellie Surcon of Kamsack; and two grandchildren. Canora Courier June 15, 2005 Page 2 WEINMASTER: Funeral service for Johann Heinrich (Henry) Weinmaster, 95, of Yorkton, and formerly of the Rhein district, who died May 29 at the Aborfield Nursing Home, was held June 4 at Christie-Hill Funeral Chapel with Rev. Daphne Bender of Christ Lutheran Church in Rhein officiating. Burial was at Yorkton City Cemetery with Christie-Hill Funeral Chapel and Crematorium in care of arrangements. Born Nov. 15, 1909 near Rhein to Heinrich and Elizabeth (nee Suppes) Weinmaster, he married Helen Hilderman on Oct. 11, 1931 at Yorkton Lutheran Church. The couple farmed near Rhein, then moved to a farm east of Yorkton. After his wife’s death in 1985, he married Molly Hilderman (nee Amalia Kraft). When his second wife was admitted to a nursing home in Fillmore, he moved to a seniors’ apartment in Nipawin. He was involved in the Evangelical church in Yorkton, the Parkland Lions Club, the Yorkton Curling Club and the Yorkton museum. Predeceased by his parents, two brothers, Johnnie and Reinhold, two sisters, Sarah and Alvina; two daughters, Joanne in infancy and Marlene Montford in 1981, and both wives (1985 and 2001), he is survived by one son, Howard of Kapuskasing, Ont.; one daughter, Peggy (James) Worrell of Swift Current; one sisters, Lillian Hall of New York; nine grandchildren, and 15 great-grandchildren. Canora Courier June 15, 2005 Page B8 – Personal items of interest to Invermay and district readers Funeral service was held for Barry Dale Enge, age 57, on Wednesday, June 8 at the Invermay Community Hall with Pastor Glenn Shore officiating. Eulogies were given by Gordon McLelland and Chris Carlson, long-time friends, and Orvall Enge, brother. Barry was well known and highly thought of, as could be seen from the overflowing crowd of mourner. Organist was Madeline Robson. Lois Squire and Vicki Ziola were in charge of the memorial book. Dean Currah, Jason Pozniak and Kim Rioch were ushers. Honourary pallbearers were the farm helpers: Jason Bansley, Albert Carlson, Mark Eskra, Mike Eskra, Jeff Hunter and Eddy Malowney. Active pallbearers were: Rob Baragar, Jim Carlson, Michael Enge, Brian Rude, Gerald Squire and Sheldon Wallin. Interment was n Margo Cemetery, next to his wife, Dianna, who died less than six months ago. Lunch was served in the hall afterwards. Barry is survived by his mother Sophie Ziola, mother-in-law Ann Shinkewski, brother Orvall, sons Justin (Kimberly) and Korwin (friend Diana Driedger), niece Sherrie, nephew Corrie, sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law and many niece, nephews, family and friends. Canora Courier June 15, 2005 Page B8 – Personal items of interest to Invermay and district readers Funeral service was held for William (Bill) Smith, age 76, on June 9 at Hazel Dell with Terry Tompkins officiating. Heather Gawrelitza was eulogist for her father. The memorial book attendants and ushers were Trish Shewchuk, Dori Yagelniski, Jerrie Lynn Kuzminski and Lisa Vitkauskas. Some of the dance music that Bill loved had been put on CD and was played before, during and after the service. Pallbearers were: Terry Smith, Jerry Yagelniski, Albert Wyborn, Bill Bryant, Alan Busch and Brian Bush. Interment was in Hazel Dell Cemetery with lunch served in the hall afterwards. Bill is survived by his wife of over 50 years, Merial; their children Robert (Margaret), Joni (Scott), Amanda (Morley), Rachelle and Kolby, and Robin (Dustin); Leslie (Lynn), Lee and Lisa; Lloyd (LaVerne); Synklita, Amy, William and Jesse, and Heather (Greg) Gawrelitza; his sisters, Violet (Les) MacDonald and Dorothy Spaxman; along with many nieces and nephews. |
