Canora Courier, November 16, 2005 Page 1 Lintlaw resident, 19, dies in highway crash Darcy Klassen, 19, of Lintlaw died as a result of a two-vehicle collision east of Nut Mountain on Oct. 21.. Klassen was driving a pickup truck which collided with a loaded grain truck driven by Earl Smith of Lintlaw at an uncontrolled intersection of two grid roads about 11 kilometres east of Nut Mountain. Smith was injured in the collision and was treated at a hospital in Saskatoon. A funeral service for Klassen was held on Oct. 24 at Lintlaw Recreation Centre with Rev. Pius Schroh officiating. Burial was in St. Theresa’s Roman Catholic Cemetery with Lintlaw Funeral Home in care of arrangements. Born on July 9, 1986, in Kelvington to Constance and Jerry Klassen, he attended Lintlaw and Kelvington schools. He was an oil rigs worker in Alberta and did diamond drilling in northern Manitoba. He belonged to 4-H beef and light horse clubs. He enjoyed working with animals and operating farm machinery and spent time hunting, fishing and snowmobiling. Besides his parents, Constance and Jerry, he is survived by two brothers, Jeremy and Michael, both of Lintlaw. (To

She was the mother of Jack and Charles of Rama, Mervin of Wynyard and Merle Unick of Sheho. Graveside service was held on Sept. 10 with Rev. Marg Grayson officiating at Invermay Cemetery. Lunch was served by seniors at the Golden Age. He was predeceased by his wife, Yvonne Neuert. He is survived by their children, Allan of Melville, Susan of Victoria, and Norman of Grande Prairie. Canora Courier, November 16, 2005 Page B6 CYMBALISTY: Funeral service for Peter Cymbalisty, 75, of Amsterdam, who died Nov. 6 in Canora, was held Nov. 10 at Leson’s Funeral Home with Thom Carnahan officiating. Burial was in the Canora Cemetery with Leson’s Funeral Home in care of arrangements. Born on Aug. 17, 1930, in Canora to Wasyl and Ann (Romanow) Cymbalisty, he attended Forrest Hill School. He worked at Modern Motors and Canora Central Motors. On July 12, 1953, he married Victoria Dutchak in Canora. In 1955, they moved to Amsterdam and began farming. He was a member of the Saskatchewan Wheat Pool committee and the Amsterdam hamlet board. He was well known for playing the fiddle and he often entertained at the Keen-Age Centre, the Canora Hospital and the Canora Gateway Lodge. He retired from farming in 1995. Predeceased by his parents, Wasyl and Ann, and two brothers, Paul and Walter, he is survived by his wife, Victoria; a son, Dennis (Leanne) of Canora; two daughters, Bonnie (Dwain) Brezinski of Regina and Debbie of Yorkton; two brothers, Victor (Martha) of Saskatoon and Louis (Mary) of Canora; a sister, Grace (Wally) Wyonzek of Canora; three grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren. Canora Courier, November 16, 2005 Page B8 STEBNER: funeral Service for Pauline Stebner, 92, of Yorkton, and formerly of Rhein, who died Oct. 16, was held Oct. 21 at Christie-Hill Funeral Chapel with Pastor Richard Gibson officiating. Burial was at Yorkton City Cemetery with Christie-Hill Funeral Chapel of Yorkton in care of arrangements. Born in Rhein to Fred and Margaret Schneider, she married Henry Stebner in 1931. The couple moved to Yorkton, then retired to McBride Lake where they opened the Lamplighter Lodge. She returned to Yorkton and Lived at Fisher Court, Anderson Lodge and Anderson Village, where she died. Predeceased by her husband, three sons, Adlore, Lloyd and Ronald, two sisters, Natalie Wisener and Emily Korfman, and three brothers, William, Manuel and Helmuth Schneider, she is survived by one son, Harvey (Joyce) of Yorkton; one daughter, Jeanette Biro of Vancouver Island, B.C.; one brother, Ronald (Alice) of Winnipeg; five grandchildren, and eight great-grandchildren. Canora Courier, November 16, 2005 Page B8 SOLBREKKEN: Graveside service for Mekkal Solbrekken, 76, of Invermay, and formerly of Norquay, who died Sept. 29 at the Invermay Health Centre, was held Oct. 6 at Norquay Emmanuel Lutheran Church cemetery with Rev. Max Solbrekken officiating. Tompkins Funeral Home of Wadena was in care of the arrangements. Born on Jan. 04, 1929, in Norquay, to Ingvar and Anne (Nee Heskin) Solbrekken, he attended Grantsburg school northwest of Norquay. He farmed near White beech and Norquay and was a journeyman iron worker in structural construction in Edmonton, Beaver Lodge, Alta., and uranium City, Sask. He worked on the CN tower in Calgary and steel bridges for such companies as Dominion Bridge and Brown & Root. He also operated large construction equipment. He spent the last number of years at the Invermay health Centre. Predeceased by his parents, Ingvar in 1968 and Anne in 1982, and a sister, Astrid Solbrekken in 1987, he is survived by four brothers, Martin (Ruby) of Salmon Arm, B.C., Fred (Irene) of Langley, B.C.; and Max (Donna) and Emil (Jan), all of Edmonton. |
