DMYTRIW:  Funeral service for Julia Dmytriw, 81, of Invermay Health Centre and formerly of Preeceville, who died June 19 in Invermay, was held June 23 in Holy Transfiguration Ukrainian Catholic Church with Rev. Joakim Rac officiating.  Burial was in Preeceville cemetery with Preeceville Funeral Home in care of arrangements.

Born Apr. 27, 1924 to James and Maria Horbachewsky in the Hryhoriw district, she was educated at Checkow School.  She married Make Dmytriw in July, 1949. They owned a general store in Preeceville.  In January, 1999, she moved into the Invermay Health Centre.

Predeceased by her mother in 1950, her father in 1962, brothers Adam in 1995, Dan in 1983 and Carl in 1989, sisters Margaret in 1986, Myrtle in 1993 and sisters Anne, Katie and Helen in infancy in 1924, and husband, Mike, in 1995, she is survived one brother, Lonko, one daughter, Sylvia (David) Myall, and two grandchildren.

SPELAY:  Funeral service for Mary Spelay, 93, of the Yorkton and District Nursing Home, and formerly of the Whitesand District, who died June 10 at her residence, was held June 15 at St. Mary’s Ukrainian Catholic Church in Yorkton with Rev. Raymond Lukie officiating.  Burial was in the Patronage of the Blessed Virgin Mary Ukrainian Catholic Parish Cemetery in the Whitesand District with Bailey’s Funeral Home in care of arrangements.

Born on Jan. 6, 1912, in the Buchanan district to Jacob and Anna (Kutcher) Shumey, she attended Northlake School.  On Nov. 8, 1935, she married Metro Spelay of the Whitesand district.  They operated the family farm until they retired in 1987 to Yorkton.  Due to failing health, she became a resident of the Yorkton and District Nursing Home on Apr. 15, 2000.  She was active in the Whitesand District Church community.

Predeceased by her parents, Jacob and Anna, her husband, Metro, two brothers, Metro and John Shumey, and two sisters, Maggie Derow and Katherine Shumey, she is survived by two sons, Andrew of Yorkton and George (Rose) of Yorkton; five daughters, Eleanor (Ernie) Wozney of Canora, Sylvia (Paul) Beblow of Regina, Olga (Bohdan) Kotyk of Regina, Vivian Dombrowski of Surrey and Elizabeth of Regina; two brothers, Bill and Pete Shumey; two sisters, Olive Dziaduck and Pauline Kosior; 14 grandchildren, and eight grandchildren.

GOGAL:  Funeral service for Thomas Gogal, 74, of Kamsack and District nursing Home and formerly of the Stenen district, who died June 21 in Kamsack Hospital, was held June 24in the chapel of Preeceville Funeral home with Rev. Andrew Sowa officiating.  Burial was in Ruda Cemetery in the Stenen district, with Preeceville Funeral Home in care of arrangements.

Born Sept. 20, 1930 to Sam and Antonia (nee Firomski) Gogal in the Stenen district, he was educated at the Woodlight School.  He did some mining in northern Saskatchewan before he worked on the family farm with his brothers, which he until his retirement to the Kamsack and District Nursing Home.
