Sturgis youth, 18, dies accidentally in Kingston, Ont.

Lee Burym, 18, who graduated from Sturgis Composite High School in June, died Sunday morning in a tobogganing accident in Kingston, Ont.

A science and engineering student at the Royal Military College, he died at about 5 a.m. when his toboggan struck a tree and he broke his neck.

According to the Kingston police, Burym was riding solo when he went down the Fort Henry Hill, east of the college campus.  When he did not return, his companions went to search for him and found him unconscious at the bottom of the hill.  He was pronounced dead when he arrived at a hospital.

Although the accident happened just hours after the school’s annual Christmas ball, police said alcohol was not a factor in this accident.

Raised by his father, Eugene Burym of Sturgis, Lee had dreams of becoming a mechanical engineer.
