In Memory of Victoria and Paul Kurkowsky

April 19, 2001 ~ ~ April 18, 2005

We often think of bygone days

When we were all together.

The family chain is broken now,

But memories will live forever.

To us, they have not gone away,

Nor have they travelled far,

Just entered God's eternal home

And left the gate ajar.

-Lovingly remembered and sadly missed by their children, grandchildren and great -grandchildren

BERG: Caroline (Carrie) Berg was born 100 years ago, Feb. 1, 1906, in Hinchinbrooke, Ont. When mom was 6 mos. old the family moved to Estevan, Sask., where her father stood in line for many days to get a parcel of land and they settled near Bromhead, Sask. Mom attended Knoxville School which was named after her maiden name, Knox. The post office was named Knoxville. Later years, our Mom moved to Estevan where she worked at the Canada Cafe and when the Princess Cafe opened she was the head waitress and ran the ice-cream parlour... She then went to Regina and worked for several months and once again was the head waitress at Fel's Cafe. Because of the Depression years she went back to the farm to help her parents. There she met Marvin Berg who courted her by horseback; they were married Oct. 17, 1929. They farmed south of Bromhead and during those years two sons, Hartley and Wayne, were born followed by a daughter, Sharon. In 1940, they moved to Estevan and Marvin started a trucking business. Carne suffered severe heart problems for many years. After Marvin passed away, Carrie moved to Creighton Lodge, Estevan and later to the Estevan Nursing Home. When her daughter Sharon and husband Keith moved to Canora they transferred her to the Gateway Lodge 31/2 years ago. Carne joined the Trinity Lutheran Church of Estevan in 1964 and there she became very active in circle groups and also was very active in the Rebecca Lodge. Carne's life was wholly devoted to her children and grandchildren as they were her greatest joy. If God made a "Queen of Mothers" it would definitely be Carne Berg. She will be sadly missed. Predeceased: mother and father William and Eva Knox, husband Marvin Berg, son Hartley Berg. Survived by: son Wayne (Jan) Berg, Calgary; daughter Sharon (Keith) Harde, Canora; daughter-in-law Lois Berg, Canora; one brother Henry Knox, Estevan; 12 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
