STELLA ROSE ESKRA Jan. 22, 1941 - Apr. 2, 2006 ESKRA: Stella Rose Shinkewski was born to Peter and Pauline Shinkewski on January 22, 1941. She was the second of four children, Elsie, Orest and Eileen. She was raised 6 1/2 miles northeast of Invermay. She attended school at Loch Sloy and Croydon until Grade 10 and, with great pride, later in life received her Grade 12 equivalency. In 1958, at St. Andrew's Church, she married Mike Eskra. Over the next 10 years they had seven children. They farmed on the Eskra homestead, 11 miles northeast of Invermay until 1997 when they purchased a home in Invermay. Stella was very active in the community over the years. Her involvement included the Kinette Club, Curling Club, Dinner Theatre, Hall Commit­tee, Rec. Board and Winter Festival. She found much happiness and joy watching her children, and later her grandchildren, participate in sports and other activities. Stella enjoyed everything she became involved in, from her volunteer commitments to her part-time employment in several community businesses. When Stella wasn't out in the community, she enjoyed camping, curling, golfing, fishing, reading, playing cards, gardening and visiting from friends and family. Stella was always conscientious of her appearance, but it took very little effort to look her finest. Her pleasant demeanor, kindhearted and friendly attitude never disappointed anyone she met. Although she was always young at heart, she enjoyed her role as wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Stella passed away on April 2, 2006 after a courageous battle with cancer. She will always be remembered. She touched many lives and will be dearly missed. She was predeceased by her mother, Pauline Shinkewski; father-in-law, Stanley Eskra, and mother-in­law, Mary Eskra. She is survived by her father, Peter Shinkewski; husband. Mike Eskra; children, Pat (Laurie), Kevin (Leanne), Mark (Cheryl), Kim (Dave) Wasylynka, Sherry (Lance) Davis, Darcy (Annette) and Stacy (Carla); 18 grandchildren and two great­grandchildren; brother and sisters, Elsie (Bernie) Matsalla, Crest (Lynn) Shinkewski and Eileen (Ray) Shaw; brother-in­law, Kass (Mary) Eskra; sisters-in-law, Anne (Jim) Slough and Jean (Wes) McCune, and many nephews and nieces. Funeral service was held Thursday, April 6, 2006, at 2 p.m. at Invermay Community Hall with Pastor Glenn Shore officiating. Pianist was Madeline Robson. Memorial book attendants were Elaine Fidek, Elaine Stallard and Verna Carlson. Ushers were David Shaaf, Justin Enge and Korwin Enge. Eulogist was Ken Krawetz. Bible verses were shared by granddaughters, Cassie Eskra and Tennille Davis. Obituary was shared by Cindy Graham. Hymns were "And He Walks With Me", "What a Friend We Have in Jesus" and "Precious Lord Take My Hand". A slide show of Stella's life with special music "When I Get Where I'm Going" was presented by Stella's family. Honourary pallbearers were Elva Cook, Martha Birrell, Lori Fogg, Caroline Grona, Doreen Rusnell and Chris Carlson. Active pallbearers were Stella's grandsons, Jeremy, Curtis, Aaron, Brandon, Dustin, Tanner and Taylor. Interment was held at the Invermay Cemetery, Invermay. Lunch was served by the Invermay Hall Committee at the Invermay Hall. Arrangements were in care of Tompkins Funeral Home, Wadena, Saskatchewan.

BURYM: Funeral service for Paul Burym, 79, of Canora, who died Apr. 20 at Canora Hospital, was held Apr. 25 at Leson's Funeral Home with Rev. Patrick Powalinsky officiating. Burial was in the Canora Cemetery with Leson's Funeral Home in care of arrangements.

Born on Feb. 23, 1927, to Fred and Sylvia (Tomchuk) Burym in the Volne province of Ukraine, he attended school in the Village of Roosin until he was 10 years old. He and his mother immigrated to Canada to be reunited with his father. He continued his education at South Porcupine School. He married Anne Palamar of the Beaverbank district on Nov. 7, 1953. They farmed in the Danbury district until 1991 when they retired to Canora He was an avid pool player.

Predeceased by his parents, Fred and Sylvia, his wife, Anne, and a brother, Peter, he is survived by five sons, Walter (Doreen) of Danbury, Ron of Stenen, Gerry (Roxane) of Dysart, Terry (Sheila) of Canora and David (Geraldine) of Yorkton; two daughters, Shirley (Bill) Maximnuk of Buchanan and Virginia Maximnuk (Leon Grimard) of Boyle, Alta.; 21 grandchildren, and five great­grandchildren.

GUY: Funeral service for Hazel Guy, 85, of Kelvington, and formerly of the Lintlaw area, who died Apr. 13 at Kelvington Hospital, was held Apr. 19 at the Lintlaw Recreation Centre with Archdeacon Dan Hughes officiating. Burial was in the Lintlaw Community Cemetery with Lintlaw Funeral Home in care of arrangements.

Born Hazel Hunt on Jan. 8, 1921, near Birch Hills, she attended Sask Valley School near Lintlaw. She married William Guy on Feb. 26, 1938, in Kelvington and they farmed in the area. She worked for a few years in restaurants and later, she drove school children to and from their bus routes.

Predeceased by her husband, William, an infant son, a brother, Andrew Hunt, and two sisters, June Lindsey and Alice Larson, she is survived by two sons, Darrel of Lintlaw and Myron of Saskatoon; a daughter, Elaine of Calgary, a brother, Mervin Hunt of Springside; three sisters, Buelah Reed of Kamloops, Olive (Walter) Fitzpatrick of Brooks and Inez (Henry) Jacobson of Red Deer; four grand­children, and seven great-grandchildren.

PEREPIOLKIN: Funeral service for Fred P. Perepiolkin, 84, of Kamsack, and formerly of the Veregin district, who died Apr. 13, was held Apr. 19 at the Kamsack and District Doukhobor Prayer Home kith Nick Trofimenkoff officiating. Burial was at Riverview Cemetery in Kamsack with E. Andrychuk Funeral Home in care of arrangements.

Born Aug. 28, 1921 southwest of Veregin to Paul and Anastasia Perepiolkin, he attended Wesnia School south of Veregin. He worked as a farm labourer, equipment operator and with the public works department for the Town of Kamsack from 1958 to 1986, serving as works foreman in 1977. He was a member of the Doukhobor society, CUPE, the Saskatoon Russian Cultural Club and the farmers' markets in Kamsack and Yorkton. On Dec. 23, 1944, he married Polly Woiken on a farm north of Mikado.

Predeceased by his parents, his wife, and two brothers, Mike and Paul, he is survived by two sons, Fred F. (Susan) of Saskatoon and Don (Josie) of Condor, Alta.; two brothers, Alec (Mary) of Yorkton and John of Penticton, B.C.; one sister, Lena (George) Strilaeff of Saskatoon; six grandchildren, and four great-grand­children.

BILYK: A memorial service for Fred Bilyk, 88, of Moose Jaw, and formerly of Gorlitz, who died Apr. 5, was held Apr. 10 in Moose Jaw with Padre Doug Shepherd officiating. W. J. Jones and Son Funeral Home was in care of arrangements.

Born on Sept. 3, 1917, in the Gorlitz area to Metro and Polly Bilyk, he served with the Canadian forces during the Second World War. He was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion, Army and Navy Vets and the Eagles.

Predeceased by his parents, several siblings and a daughter, Brenda, he is survived by three daughters, Dorothy Jean, Brenda J. and Arlette Jane; two brothers, John and Nick, and seven grandchildren.
