was born in Canora, SK on May 7th, 1951 to Peter & Mary (nee Witzko)
Dorash. Eugene attended school at Wysla and the Canora Highschool as a young
man. He then began working at various jobs in and around the Canora area, but

fishing and hunting with his buddies. He was quite talented with mechanical
things and loved to tinker. But most of all, he loved just going for his tours

loved the sound of his truck, because they knew they would be fed, they even
came to the yard for food. He
loved visiting his friends and neighbours and there wasn't much that got by
Eugene! The neighbourhood won't quite be the same without him. Eugene never

quite the Comedian! He was a great brother, uncle and friend and will be
dearly missed. Eugene

Hoehn, beloved husband of Ann Hoehn of Canora passed
away peacefully at the Canora Hospital on June 22nd, 2007 at the age of 84
years. He
was born Feb. 19, 1923 to Christian and Eleanora Hoehn. Peter grew up on the
farm 2 miles north of Canora. He attended school in Canora and then took over
the family farm. In 1943 Peter married Ann Petsul and they continued to farm.
In the earlier years, to help supplement farming, Peter worked as a Rural
Telephone Linesman. Later he took on the position of caretaker at the Canora
Composite High School. Through correspondence Peter acquired his 4th Class
Steam Engineer certificate. In order to better himself to work with steam
boilers, Peter took a position at Simpson Timber in Hudson Bay, Sask. While
working there with the steam boilers, he also did correspondence courses and
obtained his 2nd Class Steam Engineer certificate. In January, 1974, Peter
began working as a Maintenance Engineer at the Canora Union Hospital where he
remained until June 15, 1989. Peter
and Ann had two children, son Ron married to Audrey Kopelchuk and daughter
Sharon married to Mervin Prychak. Ron and Audrey have 4 daughters; Bonita and
husband Travis Chometsky, Brenda and companion Leif Carlson, Jocelyn and
fiancee Geoff Facca, and Alison and fiancee Ryon Haggard. Mervin and Sharon
have two children; Orishia and fiancee Aaron Asher and Vaughn and friend
Laurie Zemlak. Peter was a good provider for his family. According to his
daughter Sharon, Peter was an "extremely knowledgeable person in many
areas." She recalls many times going to him for help with an Algebra
question, or if she needed some
help concerning a current event assignment -- why bother looking it up --
just ask Dad! Peter loved to socialize with friends and tell many a joke. His
pass times included curling, reading, watching T.V. and keeping abreast of
current events. Peter enjoyed farming, pattern dancing, square dancing and
singing. He also enjoyed serving as a member of the United Church Board for
many years. Peter
is survived by his immediate family, his brother Martin in Florida and a

June 16, 2007 in the Canora Hospital, was held on June 20, in SS Peter and
Paul Ukrainian Catholic Church, Canora, Saskatchewan with Rev. Fr. Joakim Rac

James Fylyshtan was born in the Canora area on August 27, 1934 to Wasyl and
Anna (nee Yablonski). Ivan
attended Dunay School and completed grade eight in 1947. This year was
difficult for the family since Mother died in November 1947. Ivan
now lived on the family farm with his dad and brother Stephen. Ivan was faced
with adult responsibilities -- field work, machinery operations and farm

Stephen married and moved leaving Ivan to take full charge. Ivan adopted
several dogs who were faithful companions and guards. Later dad and Ivan moved
into Canora leaving the dogs in full charge on the farm. In
1972 Ivan's Dad died. Ivan proved to be a man of many talents. He worked with
Mr. Henry Kereluk in the Sanitation Department of Canora for many years. Ivan
was ready to help whenever asked by a neighbor or friend. Ivan
found satisfaction in activities such as slow pitch, hockey goal judging,
hunting, bingo and coffee row fellowship. In
the past three years Ivan assisted in cutting grass on school yards with Danny
Rakochy. He volunteered his help in preparation for functions held at the
Antonivka Church, the latest being the 100th Anniversary which was held on
August 27, 2006. Ivan

Yurkiw beloved wife of Maudest Yurkiw of Hyas passed
away peacefully at the Preeceville Hospital on June 19th, 2007 at the age of
64 years. Doreen
was born on the family farm in the Stenen district on September 11th, 1942 to
Ed and Mary (nee Smud) Tanasiuk. As a young girl she attended the Woodlight
and Sturgis schools. Following her schooling she began working in Canora. It
was at this time she met Maudest Yurkiw of Hyas and they were married on
September 14th, 1961 in the Ukrainian Orthodox Church in Hyas. Together they
settled in Hyas and had two children, Dianne and Kevin. Doreen's life was
filled with numerous joyous occasions and hard work. She spent a majority of
her life looking after her family. She loved keeping her house clean, loved to
cook for her family and friends, but she was most content in her garden,
planting and nurturing her bedding plants. She had a very deep love for her
grandchildren. They were the loves of her life. Doreen was a hard worker and
dedicated her life volunteering for the St. John the Baptist Ukrainian
Orthodox Church for forty-six years in various positions, to the Golden Age
Centre, and for the Curling and Skating Clubs. Her
volunteering wasn't enough, so she went out to work. Doreen started out at a
part-time job with Hyas Hotel. Then as Doreen put it, Maudest bought Doreen a
job and they (mainly Doreen) managed Yurkiw's Hardware Store for fifteen
years. After the hardware store closed, she went to school to become a Special
Care Aid. She worked in the Canora Gateway Lodge for a few years and Home
Care. Then she went to work at the Norquay Health Centre which she loved a
lot. She loved
working with her coworkers in Norquay and she loved the residents of the
lodge. Doreen decided to retire in 2003. After Doreen's retirement she
continued to garden, visit her grandchildren and travel with Maudest. She
loved sewing, knitting, cross-stitching, crossword puzzles and watching her
stories on T.V. Doreen will definitely be missed by all her family and
friends. She
leaves to cherish her memory her devoted husband Maudest of Hyas, SK; her
daughter Dianne (Dale) Kluk of St. Albert, AB; her son Kevin (Leann) Yurkiw of
