Mrs. Mary Naduriak of Yorkton, widow of Harry passed away on December 8th at
the Yorkton Regional Health Centre at the age of 95 years. Mary was born on
August 4, 1912 at Canora, Saskatchewan, the eldest of seven children born to
John and Annie (nee Wihnan) Kitchen. She received her elementary
education at Poplar Springs School in the Burgis district. She furthered her
education in Canora, Yorkton and Saskatoon before receiving her teacher
training at Moose Jaw. She taught in various multi-grade one room rural
schools in the Canora and Mikado areas. Mary
was united in marriage to Harry Naduriak and the couple moved to Stenen. Later
they moved to Sturgis where they resided for 19 years before moving to
Esterhazy. After
38 years in the teaching profession, Mary retired and moved to Yorkton where
she cultivated many new friends and renewed old friendships. Her interests
varied. She was a consummate reader, played the occasional game of `Bridge',
volunteered for different charities, enjoyed visiting, entertaining and
joining friends for coffee and lunch. She was a member of the Superannuated
Teachers of Saskatchewan, Diabetes Association, Cardiac Rehabilitation,
Westview United Church and the Pythian Sisters. Predeceased
by her husband Harry (1975), mother (1954), father (1975), brother William, a
sister Nellie Hrycyk, two brothers-in-law Norm Swainger and Metro Maranduk;
she is survived by two sons, Don (Diane) and their son Darren of Toronto, ON
and Gordon of Barrie, ON and his son Samuel of Scottsdale, Arizona; a brother
Michael Kitchen of Regina; three sisters, Pauline Slowski of Yorkton, Olga
Maranduk of Kelvington and Alice Swainger of Rocky Mountain House, Alberta; as
well as numerous nieces and nephews. Prayers were held on Thursday, December
13th at the Chapel of Bailey's Funeral Home. The funeral service was held on
Friday, December 14th at Westview United Church with Faye L. Greer
officiating. The organist, Marilyn Newell led members of the parish choir in
the singing of the hymns, `Beyond The Sunset' and `Amazing Grace'. Son, Don
played a musical tribute on the piano. A eulogy was conveyed by grandson,
Samuel. The intement followed in the Garden of St. Matthew at Yorkton Memorial
Gardens with Samuel Naduriak serving as the urn bearer. Funeral arrangements

Grace Joyce Deer, the beloved wife of Harvey Deer, passed peacefully to her
rest at Canora Hospital, December 13. 2007 at the age of 61. Grace,
the second of five children born to Louis and Mary Nischuk, was born August
26, 1946 on the family farm near Ormside SK. Grace attended Goldbank School
for grades 1-7, Woodlight School for grade 8 and completed high school at
Sturgis. On
August 15, 1965 she married Harvey and settled on the Deer family farm, west
of Canora, where they farmed continuously for 42 years. Grace was actively
involved in every aspect of farm life: from driving machinery to gardening and
homemaking. Grace loved life on the farm. In the summer her garden was her
pride and joy, in winter she indulged her passion for a wide variety of arts
and crafts. The
birth of four children brought joy, happiness, fun and games to their family.
The farm hosted many church socials where all ages enjoyed volleyball, dodge
ball and anti-i-over. Grace
was actively involved in the Canora Seventh-day Adventist Church teaching
children's divisions for many years, then moving on to teach adult programs.
She had a gift for decorating the church for special occasions, such as
Christmas, Thanksgiving and weddings. Grace
leaves to mourn her husband Harvey; her children: Charlene (Kelly) Jensen of
College Place WA, Cynthia (Robert) Winsor of Eckville AB, Tim (Sheila) Deer of
Canora SK. Ted Deer of Prince Albert SK; grandchildren: Kaitlynne and Justin
Winsor of Eckville, AB; her parents: Louis and Mary Nischuk of Canora SK; her
siblings: Jeanette( Peter) Lewis of Calgary AB, Leighton (Joanne) Nischuk of
Lacombe AB, Lornen (Glenda) Nischuk of Yorkton SK, Betty (Gary) Schmidt of Fox
Valley SK. The Funeral Service was held on Tuesday, December 18th, 2007 at
1:30 p.m. from the Chapel of Leson's Funeral Home, Canora with Pastor Roy
Jamieson officiating. Interment followed in the Canora Cemetery. Those wishing
