William (Bill) Hadubiak passed away at the Canora Hospital on Sunday, May 13th, 2007 at the age of 80 years. Bill was born on February 23rd, 1927 on the family farm in the Buchanan district to John and Anne (nee Diakow) Hadubiak. He grew up on the farm north of Buchanan and attended the Wergeland School. He worked for various farmers and purchased a truck to haul grain, gravel and lumber. He then worked in Ocean Falls, B.C. in a pulp mill driving a forklift loading ships.

In 1949, he moved to Flin Flon, MB and worked as a mechanic for the Hudson Bay Mining Company for seventeen years. In that same year he married Phyllis Dion and raised a family of seven children. Bill always wanted to go farming and finally in April of 1966, he was able to start just northwest of Amsterdam, SK. Bill and his family farmed five quarters of land and raised various types of livestock. He took pride in his farming, yard and buildings. He was an excellent welder and became the area repair depot for any welding needs. He would even stop during seeding or combining if someone needed a repair. He manufactured various pieces of equipment from harrow drawbars, sprayers and a hay stacker. He was mechanically inclined and overhauled engines in vehicles and tractors. In 1992, he had an auction and he retired from farming and eventually moved to Canora. He immediately renovated the house changing windows, painting and insulating the attic.

Bessie was the youngest daughter of eight children born to John and Mary (nee Hryb) Peszko. She grew up with her family and attended school until grade three. In 1928, her family decided to immigrate to Canada. At age thirteen, Bessie and her family packed up all their belongings and set off with high hopes and dreams to the "new" country. The family resided seven miles north of Invermay where they worked on their family farm. In 1965, Bessie and William separated and Bessie moved into town. Bessie's hobbies were cooking, gardening, reading and enjoying family gatherings. In the summer months she would pick pails of raspberries. In the winter, she would keep busy making and freezing pails of perogies and cabbage rolls. When visiting you could always count on leaving on a very full stomach! She also took great pride in celebrating her birthdays.
