William Danyluk, beloved husband of Olga Danyluk of Canora passed away
suddenly on June 22nd, 2008 at the age of 92 years. William began his life on
March 20th, 1916. He grew up on a farm on the shores of Good Spirit Lake with
his parents, John and Annie (nee Mychalchuk Danyluk. Bill was the second of
ten children. He attended Wysla School. When his father died, at about age
forty, Bill took over the farm with the help of his mother and younger
siblings. On
October 12th, 1941, Bill married Olga Kopek and they farmed together for
several years continuing on the family farm after Bill's mother remarried and
moved to Ontario. God blessed Bill and Olga with two wonderful children,
Stanley and Irene. Due to allergies, Bill had to leave the farm. They moved to
Yorkton for a couple of years where Bill worked as a carpenter. They lived in
Winnipeg. while Irene studied hairdressing, and then in Ontario for a short
time. Bill and Olga returned to Canora because of their son's poor health.
Stanley passed away at the age of twenty-two. His death was a great sorrow.
Bill continued to work as a carpenter in Canora until his retirement in the
1980's. Bill enjoyed playing the cymbali at weddings, dances, celebrations
and, later in life, at the Gateway Lodge and Canora Hospital. He also played
at the Gateway Community Church as part of the worship team. Bill was also a
gifted craftsman who made and sold cymbalis. He loved to bring people joy
through music. His grandson, Tyler, inherited his Gido's talent for music. Bill
and Olga were baptised as adults and joined the Gateway Community Church in
the mid- 1980's. Bill's faith meant a lot to him and he knew the sure hope of
eternal life that is in Christ Jesus. Bill will be remembered by Olga, his
wife of sixty-six years; his daughter Irene and grandson Tyler as well as two
sisters: Alice and Katie of Ontario. He was predeceased by his son Stanley;
his parents: John and Annie; his two brothers: Mitro and Johnny and five
sisters: Bella, Mary, Pearl, Elaine and Nettie. He will be missed by his
family, his church family, his friends, colleagues and acquaintances. The
Evening Memorial Service was held on Wednesday, June 25th, 2008 at 7 p.m. The
Funeral Service was held on Thursday, June 26th, 2008 at 10 a.m. both from the
Chapel of Leson's Funeral Home, Canora with Pastor Greg Bright officiating.
Interment followed in the Holy Sunday Ukrainian Orthodox Cemetery, Wysla,
southwest of Canora. Those wishing to make expressions of sympathy may make
