In loving memory of our parents. Neil, passed away February 23, 1985; Katie,
passed away June 3, 1997. Waiting
Yonder "They
are not dead, those loved ones who have passed Beyond
our vision for a little while, They
have but reached the light while we still grope In
darkness where we cannot see them smile. "Then
let us gird us once again with hope, And
give them smile for smile the while we wait: And
loving, serving when our Father calls, We'll
go to find our dear ones wait us at the gate. -Lovingly remembered by Marge, Pauline and Larry, Larry and Elizabeth and families. Canora Courier, June 4, 2008 Page 17 HRYCENKO:
The Lord was looking for another angel and asked Albina Bertha Hrycenko to be
with him on May 28th, 2008 at the age of 73 years, due to complications from
her courageous battle with cancer. Albina
was born on a farm near
Tiny, Saskatchewan on September 23rd, 1934 to Fred and Victoria (nee Matsalla)
Charuk. She attended Kowalowka School. Even
though she said she would never marry a farmer, she met her soul mate. Bill
Hrycenko and they were married on August 19th 1953, and life on the farm
wasn't as bad as she thought! Together they lived on a grain farm northwest of
Canora where they raised her four prized possessions; Wayne, Gayle, Brent and
Bradley. Albina taught her children all about love, trust, respect, and
fairness. After Bill's passing in 1992, Albina moved into Canora and even
though she greatly missed Bill, she surrounded herself with many dear friends. Her
social life included jigsaw puzzles, coffee with the girls, pattern dances,
church functions, being an active member of the CWL, Canora Keen Age Centre,
and endless hours of card playing. She also volunteered at the 'Welcome to
Canora' booth, as a judge for the 'Communities in Bloom' as well as visiting
many people in the hospital and Gateway Lodge. Even though Albina had many
medical challenges, she was never one to complain about them. Only her closest
friends and family knew how much pain she was in when her reply of
"Fine" when asked how she was doing. Albina will be lovingly
remembered as a humble, caring, compassionate, loving mother, grandmother,
sister and friend and will be sincerely missed by all. Albina
was predeceased by her father Fred in 1963 and her mother Victoria in 2002,
her husband Bill in 1992, and her step father Peter Parnetta in 1999. Albina
is survived by her children: Wayne (Christine) and their sons Mark, Scott
& Kevin of Regina, SK, Gayle (Bill Hryniuk) of Lloydminster, SK and their
sons David of Brandon MB and Chad of Saskatoon SK, Brent (Yvette) and their
daughter Shelby of Calgary AB and Bradley (Terena) and their children Torie,
Brandon and Madison of Calgary AB and her sister: Lillian (Bert) Hahn of
Estevan. SK. The 'Candy Grandma' will be greatly missed by all of her
grandchildren! The
Vigil of Prayer was held on Friday, May 30th, 2008 at 8:30 p.m. The Funeral
Mass was celebrated on Saturday, May 31st, 2008 at 10:00 a.m. both from St.
Joseph's Roman Catholic Church, Canora with Rev. Dr. Vitalis Azike, Celebrant.
