Mykalina (Lena) Tysowski was born November 13, 1913 at Endeavor, SK to Philip
and Paraska (nee Gryba) Homeniuk. Her
tender loving heart stopped beating and she slipped away peacefully on Sunday
morning, September 7, 2008 at the Gateway Lodge in Canora, where she had been
a resident for fourteen years. She
was the eldest of seven children. In
1928 her family moved to the Dneiper area where she attended Cedric school. In
1933 she married Frank Tysowski and together they farmed in the Veregin
District. Her
interest in horticulture resulted in the planning and development of the farm
shelterbelt and her annual vegetable and fruit gardens, especially her
gorgeous flower beds. Her other interests were cooking, sewing, quilting,
carpentry and reading, even tried her hand at Growing button mushrooms with
much success. In
1974 they retired to Kamsack where she became more involved at St. Josapht's
Ukrainian Catholic Church, the UCWLC and the Harmony Senior Centre. Lena
was predeceased by her parents; her husband, Frank in 1993: her infant sister.
Stephanie; brothers, Metro, Bill, Michael, Sam; sister-in-law, Katie and
son-in-law, Michael. She
will be dearly missed and lovingly remembered by her children, Edward
(Natalie) of Calgary, AB, Sonja Bodnarchuk of Canora, Jeannette (Louis)
Deptuch of Battleford; brother, Ernest (Jean) of Regina; sister-in-law,
Patricia Homeniuk of Saskatoon and Anna Homeniuk of Regina; six grandchildren,
Angela (Andrew), Mark (Dona), Gregory (Lianne), David, Bernadette (Kevin),
Ryan (Christine); seven great-grandchildren, Sheena, Erika, Jackson, Evan,
Abigale, Daniel and Kate; as well as many nieces and nephews. Lena
will be remembered for her big smile, gentle manner and her deep-faith. In
lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Canora Gateway Lodge Auxiliary. Arrangements were entrusted to E. Andrychuk Funeral Home, Kamsack, Saskatchewan, www.mem.com. |
