Parnette:  In memory of John: May 22, 1944 – March 10, 2008

You left our home one year ago

No farewell words were spoken

We had no time to say goodbye

And no one knows the reason why

It broke our hearts to lose you

But you didn't go alone

For part of us went with you

The day God called you home

The tears in our eyes we can wipe away

The ache in our hearts will always stay

Always missed and never forgotten

Loving and remembering you with a smile today

Phyllis, Karen, Lesley, Michael and families.

Kalenchuk, Mae: July 26, 1927 - February 26, 2005

In Loving Memory of my dear wife,

mother, grandmother and great grandmother.

God knew that she was suffering

That the hills were hard to climb,

So He closed her weary eyelids

And whispered 'Peace be thine.'

Away in the beautiful bills of God,

By the valley of rest so fair,

Some day, we know not when,

We will meet our loved one there.

PASLOSKI, Annastazya: April 15, 1913 - March 1, 2006.

If we could have a lifetime wish,

And one dream that could come true;

We would pray to God with all our hearts,

Just to see and speak to you.

A thousand words won't bring you back,

We know because we've tried;

And neither will a million tears,

We know because we cried.

You've left behind our broken hearts,

And precious memories too;

But we've never wanted memories,

We only wanted you.

-Loved, cherished and missed by Al and Bette Wasylenka.

PIKULA: On February 17th, 2009, the angels came for our mother, grandmother, and great- grandmother, Heler Pikula, taking her home to God and a joyful reunion with dad, William, after her struggle with cancer.

Helen was born on March 26th, 1921, to Paul and Julia Tokarchuk of Rama, Saskatchewan. She was not only a good daughter, but through her school years, she helped her mother care for her younger siblings - a role that prepared her for her life. On July 20th, 1941, Helen married William Pikula of Amsterdam, Saskatchewan who passed away on June 2nd, 2004 after a marriage of almost 63 years.

Helen and Bill raised six children on the family farm near Amsterdam, and will be dearly missed by son Richard (Petra) of Edmonton and granddaughter Amber (Reid) and two great-grandchildren Boris and Danika of Lasqueti Island, B.C.; daughter Elaine Carlson (Randy) of White City and grandson Kevin (Kathy) and great-granddaughters Emily and Kimberly of Houston, TX, as well as grandson Trevor (Carla), Saskatoon and great-granddaughter Olivia; son Gerard (Leona), Amsterdam, and grandson Christopher of Regina; son Florian (Suzette) of Victoria; son Tim, Sylvan Lake; and daughter Melanie Burym (Dale), Amsterdam and grandchildren children, Nathan, Matthew and Nicole. Also mourning are Mom's sisters Emily Cote of Hamilton, Ann Secondiak of Preeceville, Agnes Okrainetz of Stony Creek, Genevieve Borys of Canora. and brother Adolph Tokarchuk of Victoria, and sister-in-law Evelyn Tokarchuk of Hamilton.

Mom's hospitality and welcome was extended to all - Helen and Bill provided a family home and weekend getaway for their children and families, as well as for numerous aunts and uncles, cousins, and friends and neighbours who came to the farm for visits, family celebrations and reunions, and holidays. The weekends were always bustling with laughter, good food, lots of conversation, and many games of cards. Helen will now join some of these loved ones in paradise so that the good times may continue; she is predeceased by her parents, a sister Genoefa, brothers Henry, Carl, Frank and Mike Tokarchuk, and many dear friends who have gone before her. Mom also expressed herself creatively through her garden and love of flowers and floral arranging, ceramics, and needlework - including Ukrainian cross-stitching - and spiritually through her commitment to church and church life, including the Catholic Women's League. We will miss her more than words can say.

The Prayer Service was held from the Chapel of Leson's Funeral Home, Canora, on Friday, February 20th, 2009 at 7:00 p.m. Funeral Services were held from Sts. Peter and Paul Ukrainian Catholic Church. Canora on Saturday, February 21st, 2009 at 10:00 a.m. with Rev. Fr. Joakim Rac officiating. Interment followed in the Antoniwka Cemetery, north of Canora. Those wishing to make expressions of sympathy may make donations to the Canadian Cancer Society as tokens of remembrance. Arrangements were entrusted to LESON'S FUNERAL HOME, Canora.(563 5671).
