Mrs. Susie Shouchuk, formerly of Gorlitz and Yorkton, widow of Mike Shouchuk
passed away on June 22, 2009. She was 91 years of age. Susie
was born May 24,1918 in
the Gorlitz district to Alec and Stella Procyshen (nee Romaniuk). She received
her education at Ukraina School. Susie was united in marriage to Mike Shouchuk
of the Hamton district on May 27, 1937. The couple established their home in
Gorlitz where they raised their three children. Susie was a devoted wife,
mother and homemaker. In 1978 Mike & Susie retired to Yorkton where Susie
continued her interest in gardening and crocheting. In 2002, Susie moved to
Queen Elizabeth Court where she resided for 2½ years. In 2004, due to ill
health, Susie became a permanent resident in the Long-Term facility of the
Canora Hospital and resided there until her death. Besides
her parents, Susie was predeceased by her husband Mike in 1998; her sister
Mary Anaka and four brothers Peter, George, Bill and Metro Procyshen. She
leaves to cherish her memory, a son Harvey (Liz) of Saskatoon; two daughters
Gloria (Jacob) Leniuk of Moose Jaw and Marilyn (Edward) Anaka of Gorlitz;
eight grandchildren, Richard, Gregory (Michelle) and Loretta Leniuk; Terry
(Kelly) Shouchuk, Charlene (Darryl) Priel; Dale (Anna) Anaka, Doreen (Jeremy)
Lane, Deanne (Barry) Anderson; eleven great grandchildren, Danielle &
Meagan Priel; Ashley & Brittany Shouchuk; Jayden, Brennan & Meghan
Lane; Ethan, Kevin & Kyra Anderson; Nathaniel & Rebecca Leniuk; her
sisters Lena Wiwchar of Regina and Nellie Wasyliw of Canora; two
sisters-in-law Lena Shouchuk of Mission, BC and Vicky Procyshen of Yorkton and
brother-in-law Eli Anaka of Saskatoon. As well as numerous nieces and nephews. Prayers
were held on Friday, June 26th and the funeral service on Saturday, June 27th
at Yorkton Memorial Gardens Family Centre with Rev. Father Patrick Powalinsky
officiating. The responses were led by Zennovia Duch. The cross bearer was Dan
Wasyliw. Serving as honorary bearers were Loretta Leniuk, Charlene Priel,
Deanne Anderson and Doreen Lane. The interment followed in the Garden of St.
Luke at Yorkton Memorial Gardens with Greg Leniuk, Richard Leniuk, Dale Anaka,
Terry Shouchuk, Harvey Wasyliw, Steve Procyshen and Kelly Procyshen serving as
casket bearers. Dale Anaka shared words of reflection. Eternal

Rose Danyluk, beloved mother of Marlene Lozinski, passed away at the Canora
Hospital on Tuesday, July 7th, 2009 at the age of 83 years. Rose
was born in Canora, SK.
to Wasyl and Dominika (nee Witzko) Matychuk on August 22nd, 1925. She attended
Dnister School and completed her grade 8. On November 2nd,1947 she married Metro
Danyluk at the Ukrainian Orthodox
Church in Canora. They lived at Devil's Lake, then in Calder for a short time
before returning to Canora for a number of years where they raised their
children, Marlene and Leonard. Upon Metro's transfer to the new creamery in
Yorkton they moved there until retirement where they once again returned to
Canora to enjoy their senior years. Metro and Rose were an inseparable couple
and enjoyed all their hobbies together. Metro and Rose spent their summers at
their trailer at George's Beach. Rose enjoyed early morning fishing, family
BBQ's and socializing with fellow campers. Rose was an exceptional homemaker
who kept an immaculate home. She also enjoyed crocheting, baking, playing
Bingo, playing cards and planting her flowers and garden. On
August 22, 1999, Rose's best friend, her husband Metro passed away. Alone now,
Rose depended highly on the loving support of her family and friends.
Eventually Rose, requiring some extra living assistance moved to the Sturgis
Care Home for a couple of years. Here Rose made many friends and thoroughly
enjoyed her living arrangement. This past January, her failing health brought
her once again to Canora. Rose rested at the Canora Hospital Long Term Care
facility until she peacefully fell asleep. Rose
was predeceased by her parents Wasyl and Dominika, her husband Metro, two
brothers, Nick Matychuk and John Matychuk, two sisters, Mary Rusnak and Anne
Fostey. Rose is lovingly remembered by her daughter Marlene (Angus) Lozinski
of Canora, SK, a son, Leonard (Deb) Danyluk of Whitecourt, AB, two sisters,
Helen Tiechko and Vicky Gulutzan (both of Regina, SK). Also six grandchildren:
Shannon (Tracy), Sheldon (Sheri), Shawna, Andrea (Sonny), Barb (Shawn) and
Christopher (Rhonda) and twelve great-grandchildren. Prayer Service was held on Thursday, July 9th, 2009. The Funeral Service was held on Friday, July 10th, 2009. Both services were held at the Chapel of Leson's Funeral Home in Canora, with Very Rev. Fr. Patrick Powalinsky officiating. Interment followed in the Canora Cemetery. Those wishing to make expressions of sympathy may make donations to the Sturgis and District Care Home, as tokens of remembrance. Hattie Ruth Berlinski passed
away peacefully at the Canora Hospital on July 2nd, 2009 at the age of 75
years. Hattie was born at home on the farm in the Mikado district to William
and Mary (nee Boyda) Yakichuk on September 20th, 1933. As a young girl, she
attended Franko School from grade one to nine. She moved to Canora and got a
job as a dentist's assistant and as a waitress. Later, she gained work
experience as a telephone operator (Duncan, BC), and waitress (Fort Williams,
ON). Returning to Canora she continued to waitress at the Maple Leaf Cafe, the
Canora Hotel and assisted with bookkeeping duties. She
married Greg Berlinski on May 4th,
1962 at the Canora Ukrainian
Catholic Church. Greg and Hattie enjoyed working together in town, at the
Barbershop and at the family farm. She loved planting flowers and gardens. She
enjoyed cooking, dancing, bowling, and carolling. Hattie enjoyed travelling to
Arborg to play with her grandchildren. She was involved with many volunteer
activities which included: the UCWL, Canora Hospital and Lodge Auxiliary and
the Canora Ukrainian Museum. Hattie
is predeceased by her parents, a grandson, Brooks Oliver, and sister-in-law
Audrey Yakichuk. Hattie is lovingly remembered by her husband Gregory, her
daughter Lynette (Devin) Oliver, granddaughter Briana of Arborg, MB., two
sisters; Nancy Solotki (Duncan, BC), and Ollie Sukorokoff (Saskatoon, SK),
four brothers; Dave Yakichuk (Cookstown, ON), Ed (Pat) Yakichuk (Courtenay,
BC) Alex (Judy) Yakichuk (Regina, SK ) and Don (Carole) Yakichuk
(Lloydminster, AB) as well as many nieces and nephews. Prayer Service was held on Sunday, July 5th, 2009 from the Chapel of Leson's Funeral Home. Funeral Liturgy was held on Monday, July 6th, 2009 at the Sts. Peter and Paul Ukrainian Catholic Church, in Canora with Rev. Fr. Joakim Rac officiating. Interment followed in the Canora Cemetery. Those wishing to make expressions of sympathy may make donations to the Canora Hospital Auxiliary or to the Canora Gateway Lodge Auxiliary as tokens of remembrance. Arrangements were entrusted to LESONS FUNERAL HOME, Canora (563-5671). |
