Canora Courier, June 17, 2009 Page 20 DOROSH:
In loving memory of our brothers: Jim, June 7, 2006; Eugene, June 23,2007. Our
lives go on without you. But
nothing is the same; We
have to hide our heartaches, When
someone speaks your name. Sad
are the hearts that love you, Silent
the tears that fall; Living
our lives without you, Is
the hardest part of all. You
did so many things for us, Your
heart was kind and true; And
when we needed someone, We
could always count on you. The
special years will not return, When
we were all together; But
with the love within our hearts, You
will walk with us forever. -Lovingly remembered and sadly missed by sisters, Margie, Bernice, Beverley and families. Canora Courier, June 17, 2009 Page 22 PYLYPCHUK:
Peter Pylypchuk passed away at the Canora Hospital on June 5th, 2009 at the
age of 93 years. He
was born to Magdelina (Woloschuk) and Andrew Pylypchuk, the second of six
surviving children, on January 22, 1916 on the family homestead north of
Mikado. He attended Verdant Valley School (SD#233). Even though his parents
felt education was very important and Peter
was a bright student, he was forced to quit school in grade 9 when his father
became terminally ill. For the next fifteen years, Peter put his own life on
hold in order to help his mother farm and raise her young family. On April 16,
1947, he married Jean Korolchuk of Clair, SK. They farmed north of Mikado.
They first rented, and then in 1951, purchased their own farm. Peter served on
the School Board as a Trustee, Chairman and as Secretary. He also served on
the Wheat Pool Committee. Being a mixed farmer, Peter was a jack of all
trades. In his semi-retirement years, he particularly enjoyed doing finishing
carpentry and other woodworking projects. A number of homes in Canora and all
his children's homes have kitchen cupboards and china cabinets built by him.
Peter did a lot of general knowledge reading during his winters and retirement
years until eyesight became a problem. He was a walking encyclopedia who
particularly enjoyed studying geography. He was a sports enthusiast and
especially enjoyed watching baseball. Fishing and doing crossword puzzles were
another joy. In
1964, they moved into Canora for 5 years until their children finished high
school, when they moved back to the farm. During the early 1970s, they spent 2
winters working in Vancouver where they enjoyed the city life. In 1987, they
permanently moved to Canora and later sold their farm. While health still
permitted, they very much enjoyed traveling in their retirement years. They
traveled throughout Canada. The highlights of their travels were trips to
Fiji, Hawaii, Cuba, Florida, Expo 86 in Vancouver, and Cancun, Mexico. They
raised 3 children: Gail (James) Thauberger (Regina); Ron (Margo) Pylypchuk
(Thunder Bay, ON); Donna (Kenneth) Barrie (Calgary, AB). They have seven
grandchildren: Dr. Devin (Jennifer) Thauberger (Louisville, KY); Dr. Lynndy
(Carla) Thauberger (San Antonio, TX); Sean, Aaron and Alicia Barrie (Calgary,
AB); Craig and Brad Pylypchuk (Thunder Bay, ON); and two great granddaughters,
Jaiya and Keira Thauberger. Predeceased by his parents Andrew (1934) and
Magdalena (1986), sister Annie Shiposh (1947), brothers Bill (1986), Joe
(1996), Sam (2006) and 2 brothers in infancy, Stephen and Nicholas. Peter is
survived by his wife Jean and their children, his sister Mary (Mackisey)
Wingerek and sisters-in-law Haffia Karach (Quill Lake, SK), Pat Hawryluk
(Salmon Arm, BC), and Mary Korolchuk (Wadena, SK) and numerous nephews and
nieces throughout Canada and the United States. Those wishing to make expressions of sympathy may make donations in memory of Peter to the Canadian Diabetes Association. Arrangements were entrusted to LESON'S FUNERAL HOME, Canora. (563-5671). Canora Courier, June 17, 2009 Page 23 FULAWKA:
