Stanley Demchinsky of Eaglestone Lodge in Kamsack and formerly of Canora
passed away in the Kamsack Hospital on July 8th, 2009 at the age of 88 years. Stan
was born on September
12th, 1920 in the Amsterdam district to Marton and Katie (nee Baron)
Demchinsky. Orphaned by the age of eight, he grew up with five brothers, the
eldest of whom, Joe, was both father and mother to the siblings. They
struggled during the worst days of the Great Depression in almost desperate
conditions to keep their quarter section farm going. It was their Christian
faith and strong Ukrainian family values that got them through these difficult
times. But it was not enough - poverty blew the brothers to the winds, into
the army during the war where one brother, Nicholas, gave his life for his
country, and later the others to the mining towns where there were jobs.
Stanley ended up in Flin Flon, MB and began working at the South Main mine.
Shortly after he and Mary Martsinkiw were married. It was a marriage of 59
years that produced four children. It goes without saying mining was not an
easy way to make a living but Stanley did it for 38 years and during all those
years, Stan always put his wife and family above everything else. He
will be dearly missed by his family and friends and is lovingly remembered by
his wife Mary; his two sons: Bryan (Katherine Walsh) of Montreal, PQ and
Sterling of Ottawa, ON; his two daughters: Dee Lewis (Duane Ryan) of Camrose,
AB and Sharon Trubiak (Hugo Sandherr) of Flin Flon, MB; his brother Mervin
Demchinsky of Thunder Bay, ON; his six grandchildren: Amber, Ebony, Shannon,
Curt, Marc and Rob, and his four great-grandchildren: Jehlin, Dryden, Emily
and Jordan. He was predeceased by his parents Marton and Katie; his four
brothers: Nick, Mike, Pete and Joseph and two sisters in infancy. A Visitation was held on Monday, July 13th and the Funeral Service was held on Tuesday, July 14th, both from the Chapel of Leson's Funeral Home, Canora with Rev. Susan Salo officiating. Interment followed at the Canora Cemetery. Those wishing to make expressions of sympathy may make donations to the Kidney Foundation as tokens of remembrance. Arrangements were entrusted to LESON'S FUNERAL HOME, Canora. (563-5671). Canora Courier, July 22, 2009 Page 21 PEREPELKIN:

Bedesky met in Vancouver BC. They were united in marriage on April 26th, 1975
in Lockport MB. The couple established their home in Lockport, eventually

Christian Ministry will always be remembered. Bill is predeceased by his
