In Loving memory of a dear sister, mom, and baba, Audrey, who passed away
Feb 27,1999. Just
a prayer from us who love you, A
precious memory kind and true; In
our hearts you will live forever, Because
we thought the world of you. Your
memory is our keepsake, From
which we will never part; God
has put you in His keeping, We
have you in our hearts. Dearly loved and sadly missed by Evelyn, Ken, Robert, Marilynne, Bonnie, Dave, Kurt, Jamie, Sean , Nicole, and Thomas. Canora Courier, February 25, 2009 Page 17 PASLOSKI:
Annastazya (Nettie) Pasloski, April 15, 1913 - March 1, 2006. A
wonderful mother, woman and aid, One
who was better God never made; A
wonderful worker, loyal and fair, Tenderly
helpful, 0 mother you were. Just
in your judgement, always right, Honest
and loving, ever upright; Loved
by all, our pride they share, Pride
in the wonderful mother you were. -Forever loved and missed, Elaine. Canora Courier, February 25, 2009 Page 17 PASLOSKI:
In loving memory of our dear mother and father, Annastazya (Nettie), April 15,
1913 - March 1, 2006; Walter, April 27, 1906 - April 12, 1980. The
blanket you left us is warm still, Like
your warm heart. Like family, that you fostered,
that you loved. The
blanket you left us is brightly
coloured still, Like
the vivid hues of seasons. Like
memories living still, through years and years... The
blanket you left us is woven tightly, Like taut steel threads, Like
hands clasped tightly in prayer. And
this night, and every night We
are covered and warm and comforted still I, And
humbled is life's chill, Through
the passing of the years. Through
the drying of our tears. Mom
and Dad, we miss you so. -Jeannette and Glen. Canora Courier, February 25, 2009 Page 18 PINKERTON:
Lillian May Pinkerton (nee Engemoen), 94. of Brooks, AB., and formerly of
Canora, passed away with family members at her side at the Brooks Health
Centre on February 14th, 2009. Born
May 16th, 1914, in Sunburst,
Montana to Albert and Mabel (nee Erickson) Engemoen, she moved with the family
to a farm near Broderick, SK, in October of 1919. She attended the Brackton
School until 1926, when the family moved to a farm near Wadena and she
attended Sunderland School. She finished grade eleven in 1932 and left home to
work in Kelvington, where she met Jack Pinkerton. They were married in 1936
and farmed in the Kelvington area for several years. They purchased and
operated lumber mills at Big River and later Bertwell, with Lillian as camp

teaching that same year. Her active role in the community included teaching
Sunday school and serving as an elder on the board of the United Church and as
a member of the Canora Arts Council, the Canora Library Board and the Order of
the Eastern Star. She was a talented craftsperson, enjoying rug- hooking,
leatherwork, furniture re-finishing and upholstery, knitting, crocheting and
sewing throughout her life. She will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered
for her kindness, wisdom, integrity and generosity of spirit, as a lady who
lived by her strong family values and had a positive influence on all who knew
her. In spite of the depredations of Alzheimer Disease, she lived her life
with grace, courage and unfailing cheerfulness that made an indelible
impression on all those around her in her final years. Predeceased

Verna Dziaduck of Buchanan passed away at the Canora
Hospital on February 13th,
2009 at the age of 73 years. Verna
was born on June 27th, 1935 on the family farm near Buchanan to John and Mary
(nee Melnychuk) Tumak. As a young girl she attended Vasloutz School,
completing Grade 8 and then leaving school to help on the family farm. On September
6th, 1953 Verna married Joe Dziaduck in the Ukrainian Catholic Church in
Buchanan and celebrated the first wedding reception at Drobot Hall near
Buchanan. Shortly thereafter, they moved into their farm located just south of
Buchanan, where they enjoyed grain and cattle farming. Joe and Verna were
blessed with four children: Julius, VelMarie, Daniel and Olivia. They resided
on the farm making many happy memories until 1987 when Verna & Joe decided
to retire from the farm life and move to Buchanan. Verna
was a people-person and was very active within the community. For many years
she was an active member of the Vasloutz Ladies and Mens Club where she
dedicated much of her time and effort preparing meals, up keeping the church
and attending countless dances that were held at Vasoultz Hall. Verna was also
a member of Buchanan's Club 50 where she enjoyed playing cards or simply
having coffee and spending time with friends. She also dedicated countless
hours as President for the Buchanan Ukrainian Dance Club and continued to be
on the Board for the Buchanan Housing Authority until she became ill. Verna
enjoyed cooking her traditional dishes, especially when she knew family and
friends were coming over. She also enjoyed knitting, cross-stitching and
gardening. What
Verna cherished most in life were her grandchildren. She loved spending time
with them and it was a joy to be "Baba" to all of them. They all
enjoyed a good game of cards, decorating Easter eggs and the treats were the
best part of all. In June of last year Verna found it necessary, due to
failing health, to take up residence at the Wascana Rehabilitation Centre in
Regina. Her health continued to decline and on February 8th, 2009 she was
brought to the Canora Hospital with her family by her side. Verna was a kind,
generous woman who always offered a helping hand to those in need. A loving
wife, mom, Baba and great Baba; you will be missed and loved forever. Verna
is lovingly remembered by her husband of 55 years, Joe; her sons: Julius
(Gloria) and Daniel (Angie), both of Buchanan, SK; her daughters: VelMarie
(Barry) Strelezki of Flin Flon, MB and Olivia (Bryce) Krawetz of Yorkton, SK;
her brothers: Ron (Trudy) Tumak of Winnipeg, MB and Ernie Tumak of Canora, SK.
Verna also leaves to mourn her passing ten grandchildren, five
great-grandchildren as well as three nieces and one nephew. She was
predeceased by her parents: John & Mary Tumak and her brother Edward Tumak. The Prayer Service was held on Monday, February 16th, 2009 at 7:00 p.m. The Funeral Liturgy was held on Tuesday, February 17th, 2009 at 10:00 a.m., both from Descent of the Holy Ghost Ukrainian Catholic Church, Buchanan with Rev. Fr. Joakim Rac, Celebrant. The Interment followed in the Vasloutz Cemetery south of Buchanan.
