GONE BUT NOT FORGOTTEN James A. Bayne
Many Pay Final Tribute to Late James A. Bayne. Large number of friends, acquaintances and relative gathered yesterday afternoon to pay their final tribute to the memory of the late James A. Bayne, one of the most prominent citizens of this part of the Maritime Provinces. Rev. J.A. Ramsay conducted the services at the home and afterwards at the St. John's United Church at 1:30. He was assisted by the choir of that church which sang the hymns, "The Lord's My Shepherd," and "Abide With Me." People who knew him by his association with St. John's church, his work with the Odd Fellows and the Masonic Order and many others added to the tribute expressed by the large numbers of floral tributes and messages of sympathy. The pallbearers were L.C. Lynds and W.A. Brownell, representing the Session of St. John's church; W. B. Logan, representing Prince Albert Lodge, I.O.O.F.; William Allanach, representing the Machinist Lodge and Arthur S. Robinson and Thomas Robinson, representing the Masonic Order. An impressive committal service was conducted by the Odd Fellows with William Gunning as Noble Grand and A.S. Robinson as chaplain. The body was taken to the railway station and shipped by train to Truro where burial will be made today. Accompanying it was L.C. Lynds, representing the Session of St. John's church and others. Among those from out-of-town included V.W. Dykeman of the Oddfellow's Home, Pictou.
