GONE BUT NOT FORGOTTEN Robert (Bob) Norman Harrison
HARRISON – Robert (Bob) Norman, 53, died peacefully at Victoria Hospice on February 27, 2002. He was predeceased by his brother, Frank, in 1979, his mother, Mae, in 1992, and his father, George, in 1999. Bob will be lovingly remembered by his devoted wife, Judy, family, friends, colleagues and teammates. Bob was best known for his compassion, integrity and inspiration on and off the court. His athletic talents were many, including his service on the coaching staff on the Canadian Men’s Olympic Volleyball teams for 1976 and 1984. He was head coach of the men’s volleyball teams for the University of Winnipeg (1975-1977) and the University of Victoria (1980-1985). Following his coaching career, he enjoyed many years playing volleyball and basketball on club teams and was an active member of volleyball at the YMCA. Bob also worked in the Math Department at the University of Victoria. He was committed to the helping students build confidence and proficiency in mathematics in his classes and the Math Assistance Centre. A celebration of Bob’s life will be held on March 9, 2002, at the Cedar Hill Golf Course Clubhouse, 1400 Derby Road, starting at 1:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to a charity of your choice, or to the Scholarship Fund for Mathematics, in Memory of Bob Harrison (donations can be sent to the Development Office, University of Victoria, P.O. Box 3060, Victoria, B.C. V8W 3R4). A reception will also be held in Winnipeg at a future date.
