Mary Catherine SHERBROOKE – Mary Catherine Weir, 81 of the High Crest
Nursing Home, Sherbrooke, Nova Scotia, formerly of Waternish, Guysborough
County, died Wednesday, July 11, 2007, in the nursing home.
Born in MacPherson’s Mills, Pictou County, she was a daughter of the late
Duncan D. and Minnie S. (MacPherson) Holmes.
Mary had lived most of her life in Waternish, Guysborough County, having
resided in the High Crest Home in Sherbrooke since 1998. She was a member of
St. James Presbyterian Church in Sherbrooke, and had worked in the Sherbrooke
Village for a number of years.
Surviving are sons, John (Gay), Coldbrook; George (Barbara), St. Andrew’s,
Antigonish County; daughters, Annette (Ervin) Matthews, Shubenacadie; Sheila
(Bob) Reynolds, Lyons Brook; 11 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren.
She was predeceased by her husband, Bertie; brothers: James, Alex and John.
Her remains will rest in St. James Presbyterian Church, Sherbrooke, for
visiting from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday from where funeral service will be
held 11 a.m. Saturday with Debbie Stewart officiating. Burial will be in the
Riverside Cemetery, Sherbrooke.
Family flowers only. Donations in memory of Mary may be made to the
Parkinson’s Foundation of Canada or to a charity of choice.
