Janet Elizabeth
(MacDonald) Weir

NEW
GLASGOW - Janet Elizabeth (MacDonald) Weir, 84, Glen Haven Manor, New
Glasgow, formerly of Abercrombie Road, New Glasgow, passed away Tuesday,
January 27, 2009, in the Manor.
Born in Greenwood, Pictou County, she was a daughter of the late Thomas Edward
"Tommy T" and Jean Weir (MacNeil) MacDonald.
She was a member of First Presbyterian Church, New Glasgow. Janet enjoyed
working as a salesperson as a young adult and later as an office worker at
Fred C. Morrison Ltd. She was a great homemaker, no one in her family could
out do her biscuits or her fish fried "to perfection". Her
housekeeping skills were impeccable. She enjoyed knitting, cross stitching and
bowling. Her accomplishments will be part of her enduring legacy. Janet lived
with a degenerative brain disease for the last four years that gradually
destroyed her memory but did not take away her gracious manners, nor
extinguish the great love she displayed towards her daughter and son-in-law.
Surviving are her daughter, Marilyn (Lionel) MacDonald, Green Hill;
brother-in-law, Robert Kowalski; several nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her husband, Andrew Keith Weir; sister, Doreen Joyce
Kowalski; brother, Alex MacDonald; sister-in-law, Lee MacDonald.
A private graveside service will be held in Heatherdale Memorial Gardens at a
later date.
Donations may be made in her memory to the Canadian Cancer Society or the
Pictou County S.P.C.A. www.pkmacdonald.ca
