GONE BUT NOT FORGOTTEN Angus Laughlin Weir
Angus Laughlin 'Lauchie' Weir 1922-1990. WEIR, Angus
Laughlin (Lauchie) - 68, Stillwater, Guysborough County, died Friday in St.
Mary's Memorial Hospital, Sherbrooke. Born in Antigonish, he was a son of the
late Roderick and May (Spears) Weir. He lived in Stillwater all his life,
where he was a retired farmer, lumberman and former employee of Bickerton
Industries. He was a former janitor in St. Mary's Rural High School,
Sherbrooke. He was a member of St. James Presbyterian Church, Sherbrooke,
where he was on the board of manager. He was an avid salmon fishermen and was
a member of Radium Lodge IOOF 137, East River, and St. Mary's District Lions
Club. He was a veteran of the Second World War and was a member of Royal
Canadian Legion, Sherbrooke, branch 56. He is survived by his wife, the former
Marion Fraser; a daughter, Susan, Toronto; two sons, Lieut.(N) Jeffrey,
Ottawa; Ralph, Halifax; three brothers, Bertie, Sherbrooke; Daniel, Truro;
Bruce, Stillwater; three sisters, Nettie, Stillwater; Janie (Mrs. Gordon
Jack), Martha (Mrs. Ted Smith) both of Halifax. He was predeceased by two
brothers, John, Hoise. The body is in H.W. Angus Funeral Home, Stillwater,
visiting 2-4, 7-9 p.m. today. Funeral will be 3 p.m. Sunday, Rev. Glenn
MacDonald officiating. Burial
will be in Riverside Cemetery, Sherbrooke. Donations may be made to St. James
Presbyterian Church Memorial Fund or any charity.
