Jack Weir

Jack Weir Of Moncton Dies Suddenly In Amherst. Mr. Jack Weir of Moncton died suddenly at his boarding house in Amherst early Tuesday morning word to this effect was received here yesterday from his brother Mr. Frank W. Weir, Supt. of the City Pump Station. Jack Weir was well known in Moncton. Twenty years ago he was prominent in baseball circles and played with Moncton teams on the Principal baseball diamond in the Maritimes, being better known in sporting circles as "SHOOTS" Weir. He was an overseas man having gone over with the 145th Battalion and served in France. He was twice wounded and being a sufferer from the effects of shrapnel which pierced his lungs. He was among the pensioners of the Great War. The deceased was a son of the late Robert Weir and besides his wife and one son he is survived by three brothers, Edward of Erie, Pa, Allan of England and Frank H. of Moncton.  Two sisters Mrs. Coombs and Mrs. Rae of Boston. He was 47 years of age. The remains will be brought back to Moncton and interment will be made in Elmwood cemetery.
