John Livingstone Weir

Weir, John Livingstone - 75, 34 Acadia Ave., Stellarton, died Saturday in Sutherland-Harris Memorial Hospital, Pictou. Born in Stellarton, he was a son of the late David and Harriet (MacKenzie) Weir. In his younger years, he was an avid tennis player, winning both the Pictou County Tennis Association junior and senior championships for several years. He was widely known asa magician and entertainer for local events. During the war years, he served in Canada and overseas as a member of one of the Canadian Army Show Units. He works for CNR retiring in 1970. He was an adherent of Sharon St. John United Church. He is survived by a sister, Velma (Mrs. Ian Ross), Stellarton; a nephew, David Ross, Dartmouth. He was predeceased by a sister Isabel.  The body is in H.C. MacQuarrie Funeral Home, Stellarton, visiting 2-4 7-9 p.m. today, where funeral will be 2:30 p.m. Tuesday.  Rev. George Barrett officiating. Burial will be in Brookside Cemetery.  Donations may be made to VON, Cancer Society, or any charity.
