GONE BUT NOT FORGOTTEN Hugh John (Jack) Weir
WEIR,
HUGH JOHN (JACK) It is with great sadness that we announce Jack’s passing on Saturday,
March 23, 2002 at the age of 65 years. Left to cherish Jack’s memory are his wife Rooney of 45 years of
marriage; their children, Rhonda Simons (Jan), Jo-Anne Weir (Karen), Scott
Weir (Karen), Diane Reschke (Darrell); grandchildren, Stewart, Laura, Corey,
Jessie, Steven and Mitchell; his mother Margaret Weir; sisters, Gloria
Wasacase, Shelly Smith, Cathy Liznick; and brother Kirk Weir; as well as
numerous nieces, nephews; relatives and friends. Jack will be remembered for his upbeat and optimistic attitude. This
positive attitude contributed to the success of his heating and air
conditioning business, Weir Mechanical, which he ran for over 30 years. Some
of Jack’s favourite things in life were shiny cars, wheeling and dealing,
telling jokes, teasing the grandkids and home cooked meals with family and
friends. Many of his happiest times were spent at the cottage in Arnes with
Rooney at his side. His greatest pride was in his children and grandchildren
and their achievements. We will all miss him dearly. A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, March 27 at 2:00 p.m. in
Westwood Presbyterian Church, 197 Browning Blvd. At Westwood Drive, with Rev.
Ian Shaw officiating. Our family would like to thank Dr. Des Leen for his compassion and
support. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Guillain-Barre Foundation of Canada, 774 Lansdowne Ave., Winnipeg, MB R2X 1R9. Newspaper: Winnipeg Free Press, Tuesday, 26 March 2002, Winnipeg, Manitoba
