U - boat 992 was tied up alongside the Nene on the port side. According to Internet information (found by Ken Riley) it was transferred from Narvik, Norway to Loch Ryan 19th May, 1945. The Commander was Hans Falke from Aug 2/43 to May 8/45. It was sunk on December 16, 1945 by naval gunfire.

Don Delong reported that the captured U-boats were used for target practice by the British Navy. Very few valuables were taken from the boats before sinking. Batteries and engines remained on board.
