CONROD, Kenneth Parker - It is with hearts full of gratitude for a life lived to the fullest, that we announce the passing of Ken Conrod on May 16, 2026, in Opal Ridge Hall, Dartmouth, Nova Scotia at the age of 99.

A man of profound dedication, Ken’s character was forged through a long and respected military career. He wore the Navy uniform with pride for many years, sailing the world’s oceans and building bonds of camaraderie that would last a lifetime. Upon coming ashore, Ken continued his service to the military community with an important position at the Stadacona base Fleet Club.

Ken was an avid, lifelong cribbage player. Alongside his wife, he meticulously ran the Dartmouth Seniors Cribbage Club. He also was an avid bowler and a supporter of Halifax Mooseheads hockey.

The centerpiece of Ken’s life was his late wife, Catherine. Since her passing a few years ago, her absence left a quiet space in his world; not a day went by that he did not miss her deeply.

The family wishes to extend their gratitude to Home Instead caretakers Anita, Tina, and the dedicated staff at Opal Ridge Hall for their compassionate care and support during Ken’s final months.

Ken is survived by his children, Gary (Tess) and Susan (Robert); sister-in-law Noreen, nieces Bonnie (Robin), Colleen (Etienne); goddaughter Darlene (Pherne); extended family; navy comrades; cribbage mates; dear friends; and his beautiful cat, Finnigan. He was predeceased by his wife Catherine; parents, Roy and Civilla; infant twin brother Raymond; brother Norman and sister Marie.

Visitation on Monday May 25th 2-4 pm Atlantic Funeral Home, 771 Main St, Dartmouth NS. Funeral and Reception Tuesday May 26th 11 am Christ Church 50 Wentworth St Dartmouth NS. (The Halifax Chronicle Herald 23 May 2026)
