In memory of those who have Crossed the Bar
CHAPMAN, Irving Eric (Sonny) - It is with heavy hearts that, as a family, we announce the unexpected passing of a loving, caring husband, a father and grandfather. Irving (Sonny) Chapman, 75, who resided in the Head of St. Margaret's Bay with his wife Gloria Chapman, was born September 12th, 1936 and passed away suddenly in hospital October 21st, 2011. Born in Cochrane, Ontario to Patricia Uens and the late Eric Chapman, Sonny was loved by both parents and his brother the late Barry Chapman. He leaves behind Brother Garth (Doreen) Chapman (Montreal) and Sister Lynn Beaumont (the late Clark Beaumont) (California). Sonny will also be greatly missed in the lives of his three children Beverley (Grant) Cavicchi, David (Carol) Chapman, and Wayne (Carmen) Chapman and missed terribly by his grandchildren: Megan, Venessa (Luke), Katrina, Christopher and Carissa. Sonny proudly served in the Royal Canadian Navy for over 33 years, seven of which he spent teaching at Stadacona and worked at the Halifax Dock Yard before retirement. He was a member of the IBEW, the Seabright Legion, and was the past president of the St. Margaret's Bay Lions Club. Sonny, with his wife Gloria, volunteered in their community whenever family, friends or even strangers were in need, and loved entertaining at home with all of his close family and extended circle of friends from near and far. His quick wit, sense of humour, willingness to help and constant welcomed presence with his family and his community will be gravely missed by all.
