Howard
Elliott - Signalman
Howard Elliott was born November 5, 1924 in Hamilton, Ontario. He was
educated in Hamilton and was employed in the accounting department of
National Steel Car prior to his enlistment in the navy at age 18. His
basic training took place at HMCS Montcalm in Quebec City and then HMCS
Cornwallis, followed by training at the signal school HMCS St. Hyacinthe,
at St Hyacinthe, Quebec. He was then drafted to HMCS Stadacona and finally
to HMCS Nene. Following discharge from the navy, Howard did some travelling
around the country, returning to his home in Hamilton and in 1950 was
employed by Westinghouse Canada in the employee relations department.
There he met Patricia Towns and they were married in 1955. Howard continued
with the major appliance division of Westinghouse (later CAMCO) until
his retirement in 1984. Howard and Pat's daughter, Michelle, lives in
Toronto and visits her parents in Hamilton frequently.
