Anatole
J. Dore - Acting Leading Seaman (Radar)
Anatole J. Dore was born at Senneville, Quebec, February 7, 1915. He was
educated at Senneville Elementary School, St. George College in Ste. Anne
de Bellevue, St. Jean de Breboeuf, Montreal and the Ontario Business College,
Belleville, Ontario. Tony joined the navy in 1942, and took an instructors
course at HMCS York. Following training at HMCS Corwallis, on an officer
training course, he was sent to St. Hyacinthe, Quebec, on radar course.
He was then sent to Halifax, and there joined HMCS Nene. He married
Barbara Kerby, April 8, 1942 in Belleville. They had two children, a daughter
SuzAnne, and a son James. Tony's wife Barbara passed away in 1987 and
he married Elda Wigney on October 20, 1990. Elda has two daughters, Linda
and Debbie and five grandchildren. Tony worked as a manager of a number
of retail establishments. He worked at Bata in its early stages of development,
as a buyer, and later as a purchasing and cost analyst at Central Bridge,
Trenton, Ontario. Tony worked for a considerable number of years at the
Singer Manufacturing Company, at Thurso, Quebec, which later became the
Thurso Pulp and Paper Co., as a purchasing agent. He worked at James MacLaren
Industrial Incorp., and took on a special assignment to set up the mill
stores on computers. Tony retired from James MacLaren in 1980. He and
Elda presently reside in Ottawa.
