CFB HALIFAX

 


 

 

CFB Halifax was created during the unification of the RCN, RCAF and Canadian Army.  The based consists of Stadacona (formerly HMCS Stadacona), Shearwater (formerly HMCS Shearwater / CFB Shearwater), HMC Dockyard, Windsor Park (formerly CFB Windsor Park), CFAD Bedford.

 

Located at Stadacona are the Canadian Forces Naval Engineering School which includes damage control facilities at Herring Cove, Canadian Forces Naval Operations School, the Base Hospital, Canadian Forces Maritime Warfare Centre, HMCS Trinity and the Maritime Command Museum and the Headquarters for the 5th Canadian Division.

 

Located in HMC Dockyard is the headquarters for Maritime Forces Atlantic, the Formation Supply Facility, Fleet Maintenance Facility Cape Scott and various training and operations buildings. There is also an adjunct facility directly across the harbour on the Dartmouth shoreline comprising of various buildings and jetties.

 

HMCS Trinity is the organization housed at Stadacona which is tasked with maintaining MARLANT communications with vessels and other Canadian Forces and allied units, as well as developing strategic and tactical operational intelligence for unit commanders. Trinity operated to remove transmitter / receiver stations - NRS Newport Corner and NRS Mill Cove.
