According to the obituary of his adopted mother, Annie Thorne, in 1944 (obituary below), Montfred served in the RCN.  No other information is known.

 

On 21 Dec 1981, a man named Montfred Meade passed away in Vancouver, BC.  He is buried in the Mountain View Cemetery, Vancouver.  Click here to view his death certificate.  It is not known if this is the same Montfred Meade listed here.

 

MRS. JEREMIAH THORNE - The death occurred on Saturday in the Halifax Infirmary of Mrs. Annie Thorne, wife of Jeremiah Thorne. She was born at Burnt Islands, Newfoundland, 41 years ago, but had lived in Halifax for the past 18 years. Surviving beside her husband are an adopted son, Montfred Meade, now serving overseas with the R.C.N.; her parents, Mr. and Mrs. James Meade of Halifax; three sisters, Rose (Mrs. William Barnes); Olive (Mrs. Norman Keating); Nellie (Mrs. Guy Garrison), and one brother John, all of Halifax. One brother James predeceased her some years ago. The funeral will be held Tuesday afternoon at two o'clock from the home of her parents, 56 John street.
