WATSON, Wilfred, EA 4c, V44390, RCNVR, MPK - 24 Nov 1944, HMCS SHAWINIGAN - son of Dorthy & Ernest Watson of Toronto, ON; brother of Norman Watson.

 

EA Watson died when HMCS SHAWINIGAN was sunk by U-1228 on 24 Nov 1944. Of her crew of 91, there were no survivors.

 

Electrical Artificer Wilfred Watson, 23, is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Watson, Ossington Ave. Born here, he attended McMurrich School and enlisted 2½ years ago after having previously been to sea, traveling between Canada, Bermuda and New York. Before joining the Shawinigan, he trained at Hamilton and Halifax. (Newspaper clipping, the Globe and Mail, Friday, Dec. 8, 1944)
