Born: 01 Aug 1933          Died: 11 Feb 2003

 

DIDUR, Norman John - During a courageous battle with cancer, passed away suddenly on Tuesday, February 11, 2003 at the age of 69. Norman, beloved husband and best friend of Geraldine. Loving father of Gregory and Janet, father-in-law of Danae and Jeff. Cherished grandfather of Bo, Celeste, Danika and Gaylin. Dear friend of cousins Bill, Phyllis, Uncle Dan and sister-in-law Eleanor and so many more. Norman was the son of the late John and Pauline (Dzumaga) Didur. He served three years with the Canadian Navy on the HMCS Athabaskan during the Korean war and proudly received the United Nations, Commonwealth and Canadian Volunteer Medals. Prior to his marriage with Geraldine in 1955, he was employed by the Manitoba Telephone Company. His lifelong career in the Canadian natural gas industry saw him work his way up from a draftsman with Greater Winnipeg Gas to executive positions nationally and was past chair of the Canadian Gas Association. He was a passionate gardener, fisherman and wood worker. An active member of the Vancouver Island Wood Workers Guild and the Haig-Brown Fly-Fishing Association, his humour and contributions will be missed by his colleagues.
