Died: 04 Sep 1995, Stratford, Ontario

 

FISCHER, Roy J. - 74, of 374 Cambria St., Stratford, died Monday, September 4, 1995, at the Stratford General Hospital.

 

Born in Stratford, he was the son of the late John August Fischer and the former Ellen Rodgers.

 

He had served in the Royal Canadian Navy and the Royal Navy until 1947 and then worked in the mining and forestry industry in Northern Ontario, returning to Stratford in 1964. He was employed at Cooper Energy Services until nine years ago and then worked with Burns Security at FAG Bearings.

 

He was a member of the Royal Canadian Naval Association and the Salvation Army, Stratford Corps.

 

Beloved husband of the former Kathleen (Kay) Sproat. Loving father of Karen Fraser, Waterdown, and Kathi Wurdell and husband Earl, Mitchell, Doug Fraser, and wife Bonnie, Harriston, and Jim Fischer and wife Lynn, Stratford. Dear grandfather of Jennifer and Scott Fraser, Amanda and Kylie Wurdell, James and Kurtis Fischer. Brother of Ronald Fischer and wife Mary, and Art Fischer, all of Stratford. Also survived by several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a brother, Lloyd Fischer and a sister, Georgina Kompf.

 

Friends and relatives may call at the W.G. Young Funeral Home, 430 Huron St., Stratford, Tuesday (today) from 7-9 p.m. The funeral service will be held at the funeral home Wednesday, Sept. 6, 1995, at 11 a.m. Lieut. Keith Pike and Col. Irene Stickland will officiate. Interment will be in Avondale Cemetery following cremation.

 

As expressions of sympathy, donations may be made to the Avon Trail or a charity of one's choice.
