William (Bill) Hart

Died: 28 Apr 2017, Hamilton, Ontario

 

HART, William (Bill) - in his 94th year, passed away on April 28, 2017 at Macassa Lodge. Beloved husband of almost 70 years to Florence (nee Irons) and proud father of Linda, Deborah and Robert (Loreen). Delighted grandfather to Christopher (Linda), Stacey (Markus), Martin, Carolyn (Lee), Victoria (Ryan), and Colin. Great-grandfather to Aidan, Owen and Evan. Bill retired as deputy chief from Stelco fire department. Bill was proud of his WWII service in the RCNVR escorting convoys on the Corvette "Calgary". He was a life member of the Stoney Creek Legion, Battlefield Branch #622, and a life member of the Veteran's Service League. After building the family home in Stoney Creek, he served his community as a Saltfleet Township councillor. During his retirement, he was a long-time member of Rotary in Southampton. He will be missed by family and friends. Cremation has taken place. Visitation will be held at Smith's Funeral Home, 454 Highway #8 (east of Millen Road) Stoney Creek on Tuesday, May 30, 2017 from 12 noon until time of the Legion Service at 1:00 p.m. at the Funeral Home. Interment to follow at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Salvation Army would be sincerely appreciated by the family.
