James McGowan (Jim) Whitlaw

 

Born: 1923          Died: 23 Aug 2010

 

WHITLAW, James McGowan (Jim) - Peacefully at the General Hospital on Monday, August 23, 2010, in his 88th year. Beloved husband for 64 years of Madeline (nee MacDonald), and loving father to John (Judy) of Hamilton, Lynn (Ray Varey) of Hamilton, Jim (Jo-Anne) of Petrolia and dear friend and son Paul (Rosemary) of Dundas. Dear grandfather of Kelly (Steve), Michael (Candice), Jeremy (Susie), Kerri-Jo (Billy), Candice (Scott), David (Andria), Krystie and Kailey and great-grandfather of Joshua, Alexia, Sam and Jackson. Sadly missed by his sister Isabelle Whitlaw of New Mexico, sisters-in-law Norma Cobb and Joanne Hicks (Don), nephews; David Cobb (Donna) and their daughters Stephanie (Jon) and Lindsay, Michael Whitlaw and his daughter Samantha, nieces Deborah (Jim Llewellyn) and Heidie Whitlaw. Predeceased by his brother William. Jim was a veteran of WW II, serving overseas with the RCN, he was a member of RCL Br# 36, Dundas, the Burlington Navy Club, HAFA, and a volunteer with the HMS Haida. Jim was retired from P & G after 36 years of service. Friends will be received by the family on Thursday afternoon from 2-5 at the Cattel, Eaton & Chambers Funeral Home, 53 Main Street, Dundas. Legion Service Thursday afternoon at 2 o'clock in the Funeral Home. Funeral Friday morning at 11 o'clock at Knox Presbyterian Church, 23 Melville St., Dundas. Cremation has taken place. Expressions of sympathy to the Juravinski Cancer Centre would be appreciated by the family. Special thanks to dear friends and neighbours, Ross and Marie Covert, Kathy Cozens, Glenn and Dale Adkins, and dear friend Dr. Barbara Eisner.
